|About these ratings|
Though Islands of Adventure boasts seven distinct "islands," like Jurassic Park, Seuss Landing and Toon Lagoon, perhaps its most famous is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Along with themed rides and shops, this real-life rendering of J.K. Rowling's beloved series offers fans the chance to get a taste of Potter's magical London. Hop on The Flight of the Hippogriff coaster or stock up on wizarding supplies at Dervish and Banges. You can even pick out your own wand (or let the wand pick you) at Ollivanders, then fuel up in Hogsmeade village and cap off the day with a round of Butterbeers at Three Broomsticks. One TripAdvisor user sums it up: "This is the closest a Muggle can get to being immersed in the world of Harry Potter."
While a trip to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is likely on any devotee's bucket list, recent visitors assure that even non-fans will appreciate the fantastic atmosphere. However, because it's such a crowd pleaser, the park gets packed pretty quickly, so expect long lines. To get a jump on everybody else, head to Hogwarts Castle and Hogsmeade village when the park first opens at 9 a.m.
Universal's Islands of Adventure opens every day at 9 a.m., but closing hours range from 6 to 10 p.m., depending on season. Admission to one Universal park costs $92 for adults, $86 for children ages 3 to 9. Check the resort's official website for specific hours of operation, plus additional information on the other themed parks. And keep in mind that combo tickets (which include admission to this park and five or six others in the area) cost anywhere between $291 and $349, depending on package and age.
