| About these ratings | ||
Established in 2003, the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design is actually a merger of four formerly separate museums: the Norwegian Museum of Architecture, the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the National Gallery.
One of Edvard Munch's The Scream can be found in the National Gallery building (he made several versions of the painting; you can also see it at the Munch Museum), but you'll find much more to dig into here. Norwegian art from the 1800s and 1900s is the focus, with approximately 3,500 paintings and 900 sculptures represented.
You can reach these four museums from the Nationaltheatret T-Bane station. Each building keep separate hours -- for opening hours and other visiting information, check out their website.
