The Charles Bridge connects Old Town (Staré Mesto) and Lesser Town (Malá Strana). Visitors come here to soak in the atmosphere, buy souvenirs and to take in the 30 statues that line the bridge.
Many recent travelers complain about the claustrophobic swarms of tourists they encountered here. But there are reasons for the popularity of this bridge. As one TripAdvisor user says, "The Charles Bridge is a great place to stroll along and check out all the statues, get some really great views of the castle, sample some food or buy a painting." The best way to avoid wading through the large crowds is to keep your distance from the bridge in the afternoon, when the congestion is at its worst.
For those looking for a unique nightlife experience, the five-story nightclub Karlovy Lázne is a Prague institution. It's located some 150 feet or so from the eastern end of the Charles Bridge and you'll find it packed with a fun mix of Praguers and travelers well into the morning on weekends.
