| About these ratings | ||
This paradise on the east side of the Salzach River shelters notable sites like the Pegasus Fountain, Dwarf Garden and the set of stairs where Julie Andrews' and company practiced Do-Re-Mi. Visitors like to explore the beautiful winding paths, snap photos of the unique sculptures, or simply drink in the sights. The Angel Staircase, a supreme example of the Baroque style, marvels visitors daily.
If you can, visit in summer. That's when the flowers are in bloom, and the gardens are "a true experience to delight all the senses!" as one IgoUgo.com user exclaims. In the backdrop, the Mirabell Palace hosts Salzburg's municipal government; however, you may still gaze upon the interior during selected hours (8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; 1 to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays).
Open year-round, the Mirabell Palace and Gardens are free to the public. The gardens open at 6 a.m. and close around dusk. Be aware that the Hedge Theater and Dwarf Garden close during the winter.
