Need a little fun in the sun? Head to Raging Waters water park, just 15 minutes from downtown. You'll get relief from the heat in the wave pool and creatively designed slides. The new capsule slide Bombs Away lets thrill-seekers plummet 200 feet after a trap door opens at the top. But if you prefer a slower pace, there is a lazy river and a few kiddie pools. If you still haven't had enough, you can enjoy the large Lake Cunningham Park that surrounds Raging Waters.
While most visitors have a great time, some note that the staff could do a better job cleaning the water park; the bathrooms, in particular, are a source of concern.
General admission costs about $34, but you also have to pay $6 per vehicle to enter Lake Cunningham Park. Raging Waters opens at the end of May and closes in September. The park is usually open from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., but the hours of operation vary depending on the day and month. Be sure to check out the Raging Waters website before you plan your visit.
