Best Times to Visit Santo Domingo
The best time to visit Santo Domingo is between November and March. That's when this city experiences its best beach weather, even if there aren't any great beaches to enjoy it on. April to July also makes a nice to time for travel, but at all costs you should avoid this area during the hurricane season, from August to October. Whenever you visit you'll find the hotel rates are agreeable; even the best properties have rooms available for less than $100 a night.

This is prime time for Santo Domingo's annual events -- like the exciting Merengue Festival or the studious International Book Fair -- plus you'll also get to experience some of the Dominican Republic's best weather -- temps should rest somewhere between the low 70s and mid 80s. Key Events:

Do you like rain? 'Cause you'll see plenty of it this time of year. And considering what a big walking town this is, you're better off staying away during the summer. There's also a chance of hurricanes. Key Events:

From late fall and throughout the winter the average highs are in the mid 80s; lows in the high 60s. In other words, it's perfect walking weather for strolls along the Malecón. You might find a slight spike in tourists around March for Spring Break, but it'll be hardly noticeable. Most vacationers choose the more spectacular shorelines around Punta Cana and Puerto Plata. If you were looking to save a little money on a wintertime trip to the DR, consider visiting this city instead. Key Events:
