Orient Bay (St. Martin)
- Type: Beaches
- Time to Spend: 2 hours to Half Day
|About these ratings|
This party-loving, clothing-be-damned beach on the island's eastern coast is the place to see and be seen. There's a constant hum of activity on Orient, from the parasailing and windsurfing, to the eating and drinking, to the live music and people gazing. What the beach isn't good for, however, is mere swimming. Many visitors report a strong undertow and raucous waves, so head to northwestern Friar's Bay if you want to swim.
You don't have to bare it all to fit in -- some recent travelers chose to keep their clothes on: "The whole 'nudist' thing about Orient Beach is overblown," writes one TripAdvisor user. "What little nudity we did see was not likely to bother even the ardent 'Purist' if you ask me." Nevertheless, the Club Orient nudist resort is located next door, so consider carefully before bringing your children.
You can enjoy Orient Bay for free, but there's a moderate charge to rent umbrellas or beach chairs.
