Getting To & Around Telluride

The best way to get around Telluride is on foot. Because the town is literally one large ski resort, anything you could possibly need -- shops, cafés, restaurants, hotels -- is just a short walk away. However, if the chilly winter weather makes walking less-than-pleasant, the town does offer free shuttle service and gondola rides to and from the slopes. Getting into Telluride is a bit more difficult: The closest major airport -- the Colorado Springs Airport (COS) -- is approximately 300 miles east of town. The Telluride Regional Airport (TEX) is much closer -- about five miles west of the village -- but flights here are limited. No matter which airport you choose, you'll need a car to get into Telluride.
