|About these ratings|
When the glitz and glamour of Vail and Beaver Creek villages gets to be too much, hop on the bus and spend the day in Minturn. This mountain town may be small, but both experts and recent visitors agree that its grand personality is exactly the opposite. Once a former mining town, Minturn now houses art galleries, boutiques, restaurants and even a winery in its 19th-century buildings. Visitors can spend a few hours perusing the merchandise or sampling regional cuisine. But what attracts visitors to Minturn isn't necessarily the shopping or the dining; it's the overall atmosphere. According to its website, Minturn holds fast to its reputation as one of the friendliest towns in the Rockies.
Minturn is located right off Route 24 approximately eight miles southwest of Vail. You are welcome in Minturn no matter the season, although you're bound to find fewer crowds during the spring and the fall. For more ideas on what to do in Minturn, check out the village's website.
