|About these ratings|
These world-renowned gardens have been wow-ing Victoria visitors since 1904. Resting on 55 acres about 14 miles north of the Inner Harbour, the Butchart Gardens were carefully constructed by Jenny Butchart on her husband's former limestone quarry. Today, nearly one million people stop by each year to meander along the property's flower-lined paths. Visit on a summer evening to see the gardens illuminated by colored lights and to enjoy some musical entertainment.
A few visitors mention the high cost of admission but concede a visit is worth the money. Travelers describe the gardens as incredibly beautiful and recommend that you bring a camera. And one TripAdvisor user offers another piece of advice: "My tip would be to go NOT on a weekend in order to more fully allow you some private times away from the crowds."
The Butchart Gardens open daily at 9 a.m. and close at varied times depending on the season. Admission ranges from $16 CAD to $30 CAD for adults, depending on the season (prices are roughly equivalent in U.S. dollars). You can find more information on the Butchart Gardens' website.
