| About these ratings | ||
Jump off the metro at the Smithsonian stop to experience D.C.'s largest memorial — the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial. You should allot about 30 minutes to walk through this site, which contains a statue of FDR's wife, Eleanor, his Scottish terrier, Fala, waterfalls, reflecting pools, a line of unemployed Americans and FDR himself, among other features. One TripAdvisor traveler describes it like this: "Beginning on the West side, the Memorial guides the visitor through a retrospective of Roosevelt's years in the White House as told through statue and running water. To walk through the path is to gain an appreciation of the man and the times."
