|About these ratings|
Located around 20 miles north of Yellowstone Lake, Mount Washburn is one of the most prominent peaks in the Washburn Mountain Range (one of the two mountain ranges completely within park boundaries). If you're looking to do some serious hiking, this is the place: Mount Washburn's summit towers some 10,000 feet over northern Yellowstone. Head to the peak's visitor center to enjoy the stunning park views from the observation deck. On a clear day, you can see all the way to the Teton Mountains on the southern edge of the park.
Check the National Park Service's Yellowstone's Canyon Village area page for comprehensive area maps, a list of ranger-led programs, specific features in the area, nearby points of interest and operating hours.
