How it Ranks: Carnival Breeze ranks #13 out of 24 Carnival Cruise Lines Cruise Ships based on an analysis of expert and user ratings, as well as health ratings.

Introduced in 2012, the 3,690-passenger Carnival Breeze is Carnival's newest ship. On board, cruisers will find plenty of programs and activities. The pools, winding waterslides and fountains at WaterWorks, along with the outdoor SportsSquare (complete with a ropes and mini-golf course), keep the young — and young at heart — entertained. Though past passengers praise the ship's round-the-clock entertainment, some caution that the pool areas are small, crowded and chairs are claimed early. While kids and teens partake in activities, games, giveaways and more in the ship's supervised (and free) age-appropriate programs, grown-ups can retreat to Serenity, an adults-only venue with whirlpools and lounge chairs, or head to the Cloud 9 Spa for some quality R&R. As far as dining goes, cruisers can choose between seven venues, including two main dining rooms and the Lido Marketplace. Those looking for an upscale meal can head to the ship's specialty restaurants, Fahrenheit 555 steakhouse (for a $35 per person fee) or Cucina Del Capitano Italian eatery (for a full-service dinner charge). Nighttime entertainment aboard the ship ranges from shows at The Punchliner Comedy Club and Hasbro, The Game Show (complete with giant versions of board game favorites Yahtzee!) to SuperStar Live Karaoke and music and drinks at the RedFrog Rum Bar. Carnival Breeze's cabin categories are just as varied, with lodging options ranging from Interior Staterooms to Ocean View Staterooms to Suites. All staterooms feature flat-screen TVs, soft terry cloth robes and turn-down service. And while the ship carries nearly 4,000 passengers, it maintains a high level of service with a nearly 1-to-3 crew-to-guest ratio. That said, travelers seeking customized onboard experiences might do better on a smaller ship that priorities personalized service over large-scale amenities and entertainment.

Disclaimers about ship ratings: A ship's Health Rating is based on vessel inspection scores published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). If a ship did not receive a CDC score within 22 months prior to the calculation of its Overall Rating, its Health Rating appears as N/A; in such a case, the ship's Overall Rating is calculated using the average Health Rating of all CDC-rated ships within the cruise line. All ship Traveler Ratings are based on ratings provided under license by Cruiseline.com.
