How it Ranks: Carnival Dream ranks #4 out of 24 Carnival Cruise Lines Cruise Ships based on an analysis of expert and user ratings, as well as health ratings.

Introduced in 2009, Carnival Dream features the Punchliner Comedy Club, nightly stage shows, age-appropriate kids clubs (for ages 2 to 17) and three pools — all hallmarks of the line's "Fun Ships." More family-fun entertainment options include movies at the Seaside Theatre and the Seuss At Sea program, with story time, character breakfasts and a parade for toddlers ages 2 to 5. Meanwhile, those more interested in recharging will find a little more peace and quiet at the Cloud 9 Spa, which offers treatments like acupuncture, massages and body wraps, or at the Serenity Adult Retreat, with whirlpools and lounge chairs overlooking the ocean. In terms of lodging, cruisers can stay in budget-friendly Interior Stateroom (185 square feet; some of which come with a porthole or picture window) or splurge for more square footage (up to 245 additional square feet of space) with an Ocean View, Balcony stateroom or Suite-category room. All cabins are appointed with flat-screen televisions, safes and 24-hour room service, but suites grant VIP check-in and are equipped with larger balconies and whirlpool tubs. Overall, reviewers are impressed by Carnival Dream, citing the ship's cuisine, comfortable spaces and friendly staff as highlights of their trip.  And while the ship can carry up to 3,646 passengers and 1,367 crew members, previous cruisers say the ship never feels too crowded thanks to its plentiful onboard venues. On Carnival Dream, passengers can enjoy brunch and dinner in elegant dining rooms, and grab lunch, snacks and drinks at the ship's other two restaurants or numerous bars.

Disclaimers about ship ratings: A ship's Health Rating is based on vessel inspection scores published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). If a ship did not receive a CDC score within 22 months prior to the calculation of its Overall Rating, its Health Rating appears as N/A; in such a case, the ship's Overall Rating is calculated using the average Health Rating of all CDC-rated ships within the cruise line. All ship Traveler Ratings are based on ratings provided under license by Cruiseline.com.
