How it Ranks: Carnival Inspiration ranks #21 out of 24 Carnival Cruise Lines Cruise Ships based on an analysis of expert and user ratings, as well as health ratings.

Unveiled in 1996, the 2,056-passenger Carnival Inspiration offers more features than its Fantasy-class siblings. With modern facilities introduced in 2010, like the Punchliner Comedy Club presented by George Lopez to Hasbro, The Game Show, where guests can play large-scale versions of board games like Sorry! and Connect 4, Carnival Inspiration sets itself apart from older Carnival vessels. One highlight is the ship's varied nightly entertainment venues, including the nightclub and the piano bar, where guests can enjoy dancing, drinks and music. During the daytime, younger guests can cool off at the massive WaterWorks complex (complete with waterslides, pools and whirlpools) while grown-ups lounge at the Serenity Adult Retreat. And with two main dining rooms, the Lido buffet and a coffee bar that serves specialty drinks, pastries and cake, travelers have plenty of options when it comes to cuisine. The main dining rooms also serve Seaday Brunch, a big hit among previous passengers. When it comes to lodging, guests can choose between Interior, Ocean View or Suite accommodations; all of which are appointed with a small flat-screen TV and complimentary turndown service. At 185 square feet, Interior Staterooms make an economical choice for those looking to book the best bang for their buck. But for more space and optimal ocean views, past cruisers recommend springing for a Grand Suite (430 square feet), which comes outfitted with a large balcony and dressing area with a vanity. Though Carnival Inspiration can carry more than 2,000 guests, thanks to low crew-to-passenger ratio (almost one staff member caters to every two guests), the ship delivers more personalized onboard experiences than you would anticipate on a larger 4,000-passenger boat.

Disclaimers about ship ratings: A ship's Health Rating is based on vessel inspection scores published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). If a ship did not receive a CDC score within 22 months prior to the calculation of its Overall Rating, its Health Rating appears as N/A; in such a case, the ship's Overall Rating is calculated using the average Health Rating of all CDC-rated ships within the cruise line. All ship Traveler Ratings are based on ratings provided under license by Cruiseline.com.
