How it Ranks: Carnival Liberty ranks #4 out of 24 Carnival Cruise Lines Cruise Ships based on an analysis of expert and user ratings, as well as health ratings.

Inaugurated in 2005, Carnival Liberty is one of Carnival's newest and largest Conquest-class ships. While Carnival Liberty can carry up to 2,974 guests, with 1,160 staff members serving travelers, it delivers a higher level of personalization than its larger megaship competitors. Liberty was the first Carnival ship to offer the line's popular Seaside Theatre and the first to receive the cruise line's extensive "Fun Ship 2.0" renovation in 2011, which introduced new venues like a Guy Fieri burger spot, the RedFrog Rum Bar and the BlueIguana Tequila Bar. The ship also boasts several other restaurants and bars, including two main dining rooms, the Lido Restaurant and the Steakhouse (for an extra $35 per person fee). The ship also revolutionized its onboard entertainment offerings, adding the Punchliner Comedy Club and the EA Sports Bar (equipped with flat-screen TVs as well as gaming consoles). Passengers looking for more relaxation can enjoy yoga and Pilates classes or venture to the Serenity Adult Retreat, which features whirlpools, lounge chairs and bar service. As far as lodging is concerned, Carnival Liberty offers Interior, Ocean View, Balcony and Suite category staterooms, all of which come with flat-screen TVs, safes, minibars and 24-hour room service. At 185 square feet, Interior and Ocean View cabins make an affordable option, while 225- to 465-square-foot Balcony and Suite accommodations grant additional space and verandas with ocean views.

Disclaimers about ship ratings: A ship's Health Rating is based on vessel inspection scores published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). If a ship did not receive a CDC score within 22 months prior to the calculation of its Overall Rating, its Health Rating appears as N/A; in such a case, the ship's Overall Rating is calculated using the average Health Rating of all CDC-rated ships within the cruise line. All ship Traveler Ratings are based on ratings provided under license by Cruiseline.com.
