Located about an hour's drive northeast from Bar Harbor, Schoodic Point is perhaps best known for the crashing surf that explodes against its rocks.  Kristi Rugg National Park Service

After you've traversed the famed Cadillac Mountain, take another trip atop the scenic Beech Mountain. The mountain trail offers vistas of Long Pond, and is only 1.1 miles. Kristi Rugg National Park Service

If you're all about the powder, Acadia isn't a bad spot for a winter getaway. Just keep in mind that the park's famed Park Loop Road is closed from Dec. 1 to April 14.  Kristi Rugg National Park Service
