Best Times to Visit Bahamas
The best time to visit the Bahamas is from mid-December to mid-April, the country's peak season. Though temperatures here are great year-round (they rarely dip below 60 degrees), the islands fall within the hurricane belt, so hurricanes may be a factor between June 1 and Nov. 30 (the Atlantic hurricane season). Most of these months (plus May) also fall within the region's rainy season, which can leave you with fewer days spent enjoying the islands' outdoor activities. But keep in mind that mid-December to mid-April's sublime weather attracts hordes of tourists, so prices will be at their highest and crowds at their thickest during these months.

Mid-December-mid-April |
The winter months are the country's busiest time of year, so many hotels and resorts (especially popular ones like Atlantis, Paradise Island) are booked solid months in advance. Prices skyrocket and you'll likely be waiting in line for everything from car rentals to meals, but the season's comfortable daytime temps (in the high 70s to low 80s) and clear skies make these months ideal for going snorkeling or diving, lounging on pristine Bahamian beaches and exploring outdoor oases like Lucayan National Park and The Glass Window Bridge. If you're sticking to a budget, consider vacationing before Christmas or between early January and late February when the popular Junkanoo Winter Festival is not taking place and spring breakers have yet to arrive. Late April-early December |
Crowds at top attractions are significantly thinner, festivals are plentiful and the best hotel deals – up to 60 percent off – are offered between late April and early December. But many Bahamian properties schedule maintenance during these months, which can lead to noisy surroundings and reduced services. What's more, May to October are the wettest months of the year, with the northern islands (such as Grand Bahama Island and The Abacos) generally seeing the most rainfall. Hurricanes may also make landfall here between June and November, so consider buying travel insurance. Key Events:
