The best times to visit El Paso are from March to May and between September and November. Temperatures during these spring and fall months are temperate, with highs ranging from the upper 60s to the upper 80s. These conditions are perfect for exploring all of the area's parks. June, July and August are not only hot (think: temperatures creeping into the mid-90s) but also incredibly wet. March-May

Springtime in El Paso means one thing: festivals. As temperatures warm up, tourists and locals alike are treated to a variety of things to do, from food and drink events to cultural celebrations to sports competitions. Daytime temperatures are mild, reaching the upper 80s by the end of the season, so you can comfortably explore local parks or take a ride along the Scenic Drive. You'll likely find some cheaper hotel prices during these months, too, but know that rates spike in May due to the University of Texas at El Paso's graduation ceremonies.

Key Events:

Kidspalooza (March)

Sunland Derby (March)

Franklin Mountains Poppies Fest (March)

Nuevo Siglo de Oro Drama Festival (April)

Neon Desert Music Festival (May)

June-August

El Paso's summers are just what you'd expect from a desert locale: hot during the day and cool at night. Daily highs reach the mid-90s and make a swift decline to the mid-60s at night. Summer is also El Paso's wettest season, which could mean trekking around town in rain boots and a raincoat. However, those willing to make the trip will have the chance to attend some of the city's most beloved events, such as Viva! El Paso and the El Paso Ice Cream Festival.

Key Events:

Viva! El Paso (June-July)

Sun City Pride (June)

Billy The Kid Festival (June)

El Paso Ice Cream Festival (July)

Ysleta Mission Festival (July)

Plaza Classic Film Festival (July-August)

September-November

Fall is arguably one of the best times to visit El Paso. Daytime temperatures are descending from their summer peaks, resting comfortably in the 60s by November. It's a great time to explore areas away from El Paso's downtown, such as the El Paso Mission Trail. Need more incentive? You'll have a better chance of finding cheaper room rates in fall, particularly in October and November, than you would during other times of the year.

Key Events:

Sun City Craft Beer Festival (September)

Chalk the Block (October)

Dia de los Muertos (November)

WinterFest (November-January)

December-February

Though winter temperatures don't become too chilly in El Paso, they do dip considerably. Daytime highs sit in the upper 50s and low 60s, while average lows can drop below freezing. However, if you want to combine some wintry fun with your El Paso trip, there are a few ski resorts situated within driving distance.

Key Events:

WinterFest (November-January)

Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl (December)

Hueco Rock Rodeo (February)
