This Four Seasons resort melds contemporary architecture into Anguilla's lush landscape. Sitting on the country's western coast, the property boasts a varied list of recreational amenities (just in case relaxing on the two white sand beaches is too sedentary for you). Sign up for a fitness boot camp class, test your swing on one of three tennis courts or tackle the multilevel rock climbing wall. When it's time to relax those muscles, head to the waterfront spa and let the rolling waves provide the soundtrack to your massage – a resort component guests consistently rave about – or lounge by the adults-only saltwater infinity pool, which overlooks the ocean. To experience even more sea views, reserve a table at one of the four traveler-approved restaurants. (Some warn, though, that the prices at the on-site eateries are on the high side.) Visitors also heap praise on the rooms and suites, which are outfitted with deep soaking tubs and separate walk-in showers, outdoor sun decks, Nespresso machines, free Wi-Fi access and stocked minibars.

Standard accommodations at this Auberge outpost start at 775 square feet and include marble bathrooms, four-poster beds and private patios or terraces with garden or ocean views. After a restful night's sleep, take your pick between two infinity-edge pools or a stretch of Meads Bay sand that offers free nonmotorized water sports equipment like sailboats, paddleboards and kayaks. Additional active pursuits include complimentary yoga classes and tennis. When it's time to bid adieu to another sunny day, grab drinks and tapas at Bar Soleil, relax in a hammock with a beverage or sit down for a casual bite at Leon's at Meads Bay, or enjoy more substantial Mediterranean-inspired fare at Cafe Celeste. All eateries earn rave reviews from diners and the staff receives praise from recent guests as well.

Situated on Maundays Bay on Anguilla's southern coast, Belmond Cap Juluca is a quiet resort perched on a mile of white sand. Each features white and blue decor and comes equipped with a stocked minibar, complimentary Wi-Fi access, a smart TV and a terrace or patio with ocean views. If you're seeking relaxation outside your waterfront digs, lounge by the infinity-edge pool or on the beach. All room rates cover use of two beach lounge chairs, plus snacks, drinks and chilled towels delivered via beach butlers. When you need a break from the sand, play tennis or unwind with a treatment at the Arawak Spa. Then, sit for a meal at one of Cap Juluca's three restaurants or enjoy tapas from the on-site food truck. Travelers praise all of the dining venues, although a few caution that meals and stays here are not cheap.

    Frangipani Beach Resort
    West End Village
    4.0-star Hotel Class
Nestled between Meads Bay Pond and the Atlantic Ocean on Anguilla, Frangipani Beach Resort boasts a white sand beach with complimentary motorized and nonmotorized water sports equipment like Hobie Cat sailboats, paddleboards, kayaks and snorkeling gear. Additional amenities that the room rates cover include use of the fitness center, pools and tennis court and daily breakfast for two at the Caribbean-inspired Straw Hat Restaurant (when stays are booked through the resort's website). Former visitors loved the meals served at the eatery, as well as the resort's plethora of free facilities. However, most said the spectacular views of Meads Bay and the beautiful rooms were the property's standout features. Accommodation options range from standard rooms with flat-screen TVs and balconies or terraces to suites with laundry machines and kitchens. Standard rooms do not offer water vistas, so past travelers recommend upgrading to an ocean view room or suite. Or, guests can reserve the four-bedroom villa, which has a private pool, a Jacuzzi and direct beach access. But remember, the resort closes annually from September through October.

Outside the spacious accommodations, travelers will find an infinity pool (extending from the main building to the beach bar) and an 18-hole golf course. For guests who would rather hit the spa than the greens, the full-service Spa by CuisinArt offers an expansive menu of unique treatments. Aside from the ocean views and relaxing recreation, CuisinArt also prides itself on its hydroponic farm that provides fresh produce to the resort's five restaurants, including the first authentic Japanese restaurant on the island, Tokyo Bay. Recent guests can find little to fault at this idyllic hideaway, saying the waitstaff and beach attendants go above and beyond to meet guests needs. However, some reviewers report subpar service from the housekeeping staff. Part of The Leading Hotels of the World portfolio, the property participates in the Leaders Club loyalty program.
