Located around the block from the Bellagio, this luxury hotel is a popular off-Strip oasis with a homier vibe. Travel aficionados love the convenience of kitchenettes, equipped with electric cooktops and minifridges in each unit. And the rooftop Pool & Lounge Vdara has a laid-back feel that recent visitors loved. Other places to dine on-site include the gourmet pastry and sandwich spot Market Café Vdara or in-suite dining from a diverse menu. Even more nightlife and dining options abound at ARIA, the sprawling, swanky property just a short walk from Vdara's main entryway. But a word of warning to the high rollers: The Vdara is a gaming-free property, so you'll have to venture to the Strip to get your gambling fix.

The Trump International Hotel Las Vegas is a non-casino option for Las Vegas travelers. And although some recent guests don't love its off-Strip location and lack of gaming, Trump International Hotel does have a complimentary shuttle that runs to the Wynn and Caesars Palace. All units come with a kitchenette, and this Trump hotel is kid- and dog-friendly, too: The Trump Kids program grants children access to the concierge for books, toys and movies, while the Trump Pets program provides dog-walking services as well as beds, toys and a special in-room menu for four-legged travelers. Even when you retreat to your guest room without Fido, plenty of exciting amenities await. Rooms at the Trump feature Italian marble baths, in-mirror TVs in the bathrooms and luxury bed linens. Do keep in mind that there is a $35 daily resort fee.

Housed within the Palms Casino Resort just a few blocks west of the Strip, the Palms Place Hotel and Spa (and its grand suites and penthouses) provides guests with a taste of the Palms' ritzier side. Many previous travelers said that they felt pampered in their elevated dwellings, complete with hardwood and marble floors and kitchens, not to mention Italian linens and spectacular Vegas views. The property is also home to a casino, a pool and several restaurants and nightclubs. Most guests give the Palms Place glowing reviews for an off-Strip resort, citing the chic design, kind staff and long list of amenities as reasons why they would return. Plus, the Studio Suites offer what many recent visitors consider a great value for the price, although you will have to pay additional charges to use the property's spa amenities.

The Palms has been buzzing with celebrities ever since it housed MTV's "The Real World" cast in 2002 (and yes, the tricked-out suite is still available for reservations). Some recent guests went for a different pop culture theme instead, booking a stay in the Hot Pink Suite that's decorated from top to bottom in a bright fuchsia and Barbie theme. And still others splurged for entertaining accommodations that feature two-lane bowling alleys or basketball half-courts. The Palms also has plenty of basic guest rooms designed with comfort in mind for both adults and kids; the IMAX movie theater and family-friendly food court earn points with the younger set. There are two chinks in the armor, however: First, the Palms Casino Resort is consistently overrun with celebrity clientele seeking the best Vegas nightlife (and usually finding it). Second, the Palms is located about 2 miles west of the Strip.

The Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino is a playground for adults; in fact, the staff actively discourages guests from bringing their children. Those who have heeded that advice praise the Rio for its very spacious suites, its well-recognized Carnival World & Seafood Buffet and its risque yet entertaining Chippendales shows. Some didn't care for express the carnival-like atmosphere that permeates throughout the crowded Masquerade Village (the hotel's casino floor), noting that it can get a bit overwhelming. Luckily, it isn't all about gaming here: Recent travelers love Penn & Teller's residential comedy/magic show, as well as quieter amenities like the Wine Cellar & Tasting Room. You'll find the Rio just west of the mid-Strip hot spots like the Bellagio and Caesars.
