Neighboring "The Sweetest Place on Earth," The Hotel Hershey caters to families and travelers in dire need of some choco-therapy. The rooms feature bold patterns, cozy beds (blanketed in Egyptian cotton linens), flat-screen smart TVs, coffee makers, lavish bath products and complimentary Wi-Fi access, but it's not only the spacious accommodations that have guests swooning. Adult visitors appreciate the kids club recreation program that keeps younger guests occupied when they aren't in Hersheypark, and they also love the on-site fitness center and abundant outdoor activities. Rather than chocolate, the Hershey Country Club (home to two 18-hole golf courses) and the on-site spa (with sweet treatment options like whipped cocoa or chocolate fondue baths) are the real treats. What's more, guests highly recommend dining at the one of the several on-site eateries. Though a stay here is expensive, complimentary amenities, such as parking and transportation to local attractions, lower the overall cost of your stay here.

Occupying 2,000 acres of southern Pennsylvania near Ohiopyle State Park, the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort comprises a massive selection of accommodations. The suites in Chateau Lafayette were inspired by the famous Ritz in Paris, and feature crystal chandeliers and marble bathrooms. In a very different fashion, Falling Rock pays tribute to Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural style: This boutique boasts a heated outdoor pool, deep-soaking tubs, and stand-alone showers, providing a more secluded, romantic escape, according to recent guests. The Lodge offers ornate decor that resembles an English country inn and evokes a cozier feel. Of the options, many previous guests recommend staying in Falling Rock for its soothing atmosphere, friendly customer service and gourmet Aqueous restaurant. For more fine dining options, check out Lautrec or Autumn. Prefer lighter fare? Dine at The Tavern, The Caddyshack, PJ's or one of the seasonal venues that opens its doors for putters in the summer season or powder hounds in the winter.

Spread across 57 acres by the Appalachian Trail and Yellow Breeches Creek in Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania, Allenberry Resort has been entertaining guests since 1929, when the original barn was remodeled to host local acts. A playhouse was opened on the grounds in 1949, and a young John Travolta performed here during a summer stock program in 1971. Today, the Allenberry Playhouse is still a popular music and theater venue, and the resort also offers a regular program of family movie nights, detective-themed dinners and festivals. Those looking to spend more time outdoors will enjoy staying here too, as nearby activities run the gamut from fly-fishing and kayaking to hiking and skiing. Back on-site, travelers can unwind in the spa, take a dip in the freshwater pool or grab a bite to eat at the bakery or The Barn Restaurant, which serves seasonal farm-to-table cuisine. Previous guests thought the property and grounds were beautiful and serene. However, others said the restaurant's food was subpar. The resort is situated about 75 miles north of Baltimore and 120 miles northwest of Philadelphia.
