Just like other Auberge properties, Esperanza provides guests with extravagant amenities like yoga classes, an oceanfront infinity pool and a sculpture garden. If you're craving a little rest and relaxation, head to the spa for a replenishing massage; though spa treatments will cost you a pretty penny, recent visitors said they're well worth the splurge. Once you're feeling relaxed, dig into some tantalizing dishes at Cocina del Mar, which offers fresh seafood that is prepared using cooking styles and traditions from across North, Central and South America. Or, if you would prefer more casual dining, sit down at one of the other on-site restaurants – La Palapa, Las Estrellas, La Terraza Americana and The Lounge Bar. Afterward, retreat to your spacious casita, suite or villa, which feature private terraces, lavish bath products, flat-screen TVs and (of course) personal concierge service. Flanked by the secluded sands, aquamarine waters and pristine fairways of the Los Cabos corridor, One&Only Palmilla offers a long list of high-end amenities. You can rejuvenate with a deep tissue massage at the spa before retreating to your room, which comes with a flat-screen TV, a Bose audio system, Lady Primrose bath products and a balcony or patio that overlooks the Sea of Cortez or the Pacific Ocean. If you're looking for more activity, break out your irons and take a swing along the resort's 27-hole golf course or visit the concierge to sign up for a scuba or snorkeling adventure or a deep-sea fishing excursion. When hunger sets in, head to SEARED, the celebrated on-site restaurant helmed by Michelin-starred chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. While some past visitors bemoaned the exorbitant menu prices, others said the steakhouse fare is well worth the high price tags. Plus, the resort offers three other eateries to choose from that serve everything from traditional ceviches to inventive sushi dishes.

    The Resort at Pedregal
    Cabo San Lucas, MX
#5 in Best Hotels in Mexico
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 5 based on 2073 reviewsTripAdvisor (2073)

One of the first luxury resorts to reopen after Hurricane Odile devastated Baja California in 2014, The Resort at Pedregal is set on 24 acres on the beach in Cabo San Lucas. Guests reach the resort via the only privately owned tunnel in Mexico and are greeted upon arrival with margaritas (a favorite among past travelers). It was the close attention to detail and special touches throughout their stays (quick complimentary massages and snacks like chips and guacamole delivered to the room, for example) that impressed guests the most. Speaking of accommodations, each room has a terrace with ocean views and a plunge pool, plus a minibar, a Nespresso machine, a rainforest shower and separate bath tub, and binoculars for whale watching. Travelers can also venture outside their digs to check out the spa or fitness center, or simply snag a lounge chair and soak up the sun beside one of four resort pools. And when it's time for a bite to eat, The Resort at Pedregal has several restaurants to choose from, ranging from Don Manuel's, which features a different dinner menu each night, to the casual Beach Club that serves salads, sandwiches and tacos.

#6 in Best Hotels in Mexico
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 based on 1142 reviewsTripAdvisor (1142)

After one night here, you won't want to stay anywhere else in Mexico City – at least that's the sentiment of recent guests. Nestled in the historic Paseo de la Reforma – one of the city's trendiest neighborhoods – The St. Regis Mexico City offers breathtaking views, attentive service (including butlers, at your request) and luxurious digs. Rooms are equipped with complimentary bottled water, free Wi-Fi access and Frette linens. All accommodations boast a spectacular view of the city thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows, but if you want even more panoramic vistas, head to the gym, indoor swimming pool or Remède Spa – all facilities overlook central Mexico City. And though this area of the city affords plenty of delicious restaurant choices, recent visitors suggest staying in for the menu at the J&G Grill. Because this hotel is part of the Marriott hotel family, members of the Marriott Bonvoy members can earn and use points here.

TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 5 based on 93 reviewsTripAdvisor (93)

One of the main selling points of this Auberge Resort is its location along one of the only swimmable beaches in Cabo San Lucas. When you're not lounging along the resort's half-mile stretch of sand, you can take advantage of its free water sports activities, including kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding, or snorkel the reef – a favorite activity of past lodgers. Aside from the beach, the resort's accommodations also earned high praise from guests, who applauded the rooms' spacious size (guest rooms start at 760 square feet) and private outdoor showers. Other in-room amenities include private terraces, soaking tubs in the bathrooms and garden or ocean views. Outside your digs, you'll find a spa, a fitness center, a three-tiered infinity pool, an 18-hole golf course and a kids and teens club, among other amenities. Plus, Chileno Bay Resort & Residences is home to a restaurant headed by chef Yvan Mucharraz (who once worked at the lauded French Laundry), as well as a beachside taco bar and a courtyard coffee shop. Though reviewers were impressed with the staff's attention to detail and the resort's variety of amenities, they expressed disappointment with the limited dining options.

This St. Regis outpost sits within Punta Mita just north of Banderas Bay. The accommodations, which range from 600- to 640-square-foot Deluxe Rooms to the 3,100-square-foot Presidential Villa, feature rustic Mediterranean and Mexican accents, including polished clay floors, handcrafted tiles and natural wood furniture. Along with stylish decor, the rooms also flaunt modern amenities like iHome radios, minibars, flat-screen TVs and complimentary high-speed internet access. You can dine in if you can't bear to leave your digs, but for a change of scenery, head to one of the hotel's five restaurants. Guests say the cuisine  which includes traditional ceviche and empanadas at Sea Breeze Restaurant and duck confit with black truffle at Carolina Restaurant  is superb. Once you're well-fed, have the concierge arrange tee times at one of the two Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Courses in Punta Mita. Not a golfer? Past visitors used words like "perfection," "unique," and "magical" to describe this wellness retreat on Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula, which sits a little less than 30 miles southwest of Mérida. Many referred to Chablé Resort & Spa as an experience rather than a hotel thanks to the outstanding staff and luxurious amenities, the standout being the spa. Built alongside a cenote, or a natural sinkhole formed when limestone collapses, the spa offers three "journeys" that incorporate traditional rituals and advanced therapeutic methods inspired by the Mayans, who considered cenotes to be sacred. Other facilities within the spa's 32,000-square-foot space include a fitness center, an outdoor infinity pool, a wellness restaurant and an outdoor deck for yoga and meditation. Though the spa is the star, the resort's three restaurants and accommodations also receive avid praise from past guests. The 38 casitas and two villas are housed within the original 19th-century walls of the hacienda and are outfitted with traditional Mayan architecture and warm woods. Each accommodation is also equipped with a satellite TV, a coffee maker, a double rain shower, and a spacious terrace with a private pool, sunbeds and a hammock.

Rooms are appointed with private plunge pools and outdoor rain showers and hammocks, plus creature comforts like Bose radios and satellite TVs. Recent guests recommend dining alfresco at Coral Grill & Bar, which pairs seaside scenery with enticing dishes like traditional tortilla soup and homemade paella. But past patrons assure you won't be disappointed with a meal at La Marea Restaurant, which offers a sophisticated setting and flavorful seafood dishes. Decorated in tasteful neutral tones, the guest rooms come equipped with iPod docking stations, deep soaking tubs and furnished balconies or terraces overlooking the Caribbean Sea. A member of the elite Rosewood hotel group, the Rosewood San Miguel de Allende has quite the reputation to uphold. Most visitors only have good things to say about the property, praising its central location in San Miguel de Allende, friendly staff members and high-end appearance. The hotel's 67 rooms reflect the city's colonial heritage and are outfitted with wood-beamed ceilings, handcrafted furnishings and local artwork. Sitting in central San Miguel de Allende, a sizeable city in central Mexico, Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada blends into its historic surroundings. The hotel occupies several colonial mansions within walking distance of popular cultural sites like the San Miguel de Allende Historical Museum and the stunning Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel cathedral. Yet despite its central location, guests describe Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada as quiet and peaceful. Guest rooms ooze Old World charm with antique furnishings and bright decorative accents (some rooms also boast stone fireplaces). Although they look like they belong in an 18th-century villa, the accommodations are equipped with modern-day conveniences like upscale bath products, TVs and wireless internet access. However, recent guests mentioned that you could hear outside noise from within the accommodations. Meanwhile, the property's outdoor swimming pool provides respite from the Mexican heat, while a massage at the Laja Spa will leave you feeling replenished. Although Casa de Sierra Nevada's location is ideal for sampling the city's culinary offerings, consider dining in at least once: The on-site restaurant, Andanza, earns rave reviews from previous guests for its contemporary Mexican fare and charming colonial-inspired setting. And for a quiet nightcap, make your way to The Blue Bar.

TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 5 based on 780 reviewsTripAdvisor (780)

At this exclusive resort – located about 4 miles northwest of Ixtapa along Mexico's Pacific coast – traditional meets modern. Cala de Mar Resort & Spa Ixtapa's adobe-style clay exterior and thatched roofs are complemented by marble floors and hardwood furnishings. The hotel's mix of conventional and contemporary extends to its 54 accommodations, which feature authentic Mexican patterns coupled with top-notch conveniences like satellite TVs, complimentary wireless internet access and private plunge pools. For some visitors, the best part of the suites was the sense of privacy afforded by the rooms' spacious thatched terraces. Still, with the property's ample on-site amenities and gorgeous surroundings, you'll want to carve out some time to explore the rest of the resort's grounds. Start by soaking up the rays along one of two freshwater pools or by playing a round of chess in the library. Or to treat your senses, spend an afternoon at the spa getting pampered with a Xochitl-flower inflused treatment or lemongrass body wrap. (Bonus: The resort's infinity pools are some of the world's most beautiful.) And when hunger sets in, take your pick between four restaurants, dishing up everything from sushi and tapas to traditional enchiladas and ceviche. According to past guests, the food at all three dining spots is excellent and reasonably priced.

Perched on 2 miles of chalky white sand along the Playa Mujeres peninsula, this all-inclusive Excellence outpost offers guests gorgeous surroundings. Suites are appointed with Jacuzzi tubs, satellite TVs, pillow menus, stocked minibars and private balconies or patios. But you shouldn't stay cooped up indoors. Outside, the seven swimming pools, 11 bars and long stretches of sand offer ample opportunities for relaxation. As for dining, you'll have 10 venues to choose from, though past visitors suggest dining at Chez Isabelle, citing its tasty French plates, attentive service and romantic atmosphere as particularly memorable. And for an extra dose of R&R, sign up for a replenishing treatment at the Miilé Spa (not covered by the all-inclusive package). If you're craving some more activity, dance lessons, cooking classes and an introductory scuba lesson are all covered in your nightly rate. (Plus, Cancun is roughly 8 miles south.) Just keep in mind this Playa Mujeres retreat is adults-only, so if you're traveling with children, you'll want to book elsewhere.

All-inclusive perks are abundant at this Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, property, ranging from unlimited alcoholic beverages and meals at one of three on-site restaurants (a few more are housed at the resort's neighboring sister property, Garza Blanca Preserve Resort & Spa, and are covered by the all-inclusive room rates) to private beach access and use of the on-site tennis, squash and basketball courts. For those looking for a bit more relaxation, take a dip in the rooftop infinity pool or book a massage at Spa Imagine. But if that's not enough to keep you on the property, wander into central Puerto Vallarta, located about 10 miles north. In addition to offering several natural and architectural marvels, the city provides plenty of delicious eats. If you'd rather dine on-site, recent visitors said you can't go wrong with any of the resort's eateries (although they caution that the restaurants can be a bit pricey if you don't opt for the all-inclusive plan). The accommodations were another point of praise for previous guests. Each includes a walk-in rain shower, a terrace with a hammock and a Jacuzzi tub, a 55-inch LED TV and electric curtains controlled by the in-suite iPad. Keep in mind: Hotel Mousai is an adults-only property, so leave the kids at home during your stay. Since this property falls under the Preferred umbrella, it allows members of the I Prefer program to cash in or accrue points for stays.
