#1 in Best Hotels in Minneapolis - St. Paul
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 based on 141 reviewsTripAdvisor (141)
    Free WiFi

Recent travelers have plenty of praise for the Hewing Hotel in Minneapolis. Accommodations, which guests described as stylish and comfortable, are uniquely decorated, with many featuring details like exposed wood, metal or brick to pay tribute to the hotel's origins as a warehouse. All rooms and suites include flat-screen TVs, curated private bars and complimentary Wi-Fi access. When it's time for a bite to eat, visitors can head to the on-site restaurant Tullibee, which features seasonal cuisine, hearty dishes and shareable plates. Patrons praised the meals at the eatery, but also said the hotel's location in the heart of the city makes it easy to walk to other nearby dining options as well, which they appreciated. What's more, the rooftop bar, sauna and hot tub – which are open year-round – were all hits with recent guests, too. Those in town on business can also take advantage of the hotel's meeting space, which consists of a library, boardrooms and a ballroom. The only downside, according to some, is that select rooms do not offer great views. So if that's important, be sure to request a city view room when booking.

Located inside the Mall of America and just two blocks from the Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport, this JW Marriott property appeals to both business and leisure travelers. The hotel (which sits about 10 miles south of downtown Minneapolis and 16 miles southwest of St. Paul) features more than 19,000 square feet of event space, plus an indoor swimming pool, a fitness center and two dining venues – Cedar + Stone, Urban Table and the Lobby Lounge. The Radisson Blu Minneapolis Downtown meets the standard of the average downtown hotel, and then adds some extras to make your stay even more comfortable. Free use of the large fitness center and Wi-Fi are definite pluses, as are guest room amenities like large work desks, iHome stations and Lavazza coffee. The hotel's friendly and attentive staff members also receive high praise. But according to some visitors, this hotel's real charmer is its direct access to the city's climate-controlled skywalk, which allows you to hit the town without having to worry about cold or rainy weather. If you prefer a night in, reserve a table at the Radisson's FireLake Grill House & Cocktail Bar. Recent guests do note that on-site parking is pricey, but thanks to its Radisson ties, Club Carlson members can save a bit by putting points toward their stay.

Despite its location just minutes from the bustling Mall of America and the Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport, this Hyatt outpost, which opened in February 2016, is consistently described as peaceful and relaxing by recent guests. Travelers said the property's contemporary chic decor (a gray and white color palette with colorful patterned accents), the heated indoor pool and the locally sourced seasonal cuisine at Urbana Craeft Kitchen contributed to the hotel's tranquil atmosphere. Lodgers were equally impressed with the rooms, which feature Hyatt Grand Beds, minifridges, complimentary Wi-Fi access and iHome radios. TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 based on 479 reviewsTripAdvisor (479)

For shopaholics, the best part about The Westin Edina Galleria is that it's directly connected to the expansive Galleria shopping center, about 9 miles south of downtown Minneapolis. For everyone else, it's the friendliness of the hotel staff, though the hotel's design and amenities have also garnered praise. Guest rooms are spacious and adorned in soothing nature-inspired hues, and they feature flat-screen TVs and oversized bathrooms with both a walk-in shower and tub (a major perk for most visitors). Though you can choose to spend both night and day in your room thanks to 24-hour room service, previous guests affirmed that you won't want to pass on a meal at the casual on-site steak and seafood restaurant, McCormick and Schmick's. For small plates and cocktails, head to Prelude. (You can always burn off the calories in the on-site pool or at the fitness center.) The Saint Paul Hotel appeals to travelers in search of a landmark hideout. With its combination of history and comfort, this hotel in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota, excels at sophisticated elegance (check out the lobby's old-world furnishings, which make a great backdrop for traditional afternoon tea). And while guest rooms sport that same vintage elegance complete with wooden two- or four-poster beds and other antique decor you'll still find all the modern conveniences of the name-brand properties that dominate St. Paul's twin city, such as flat-screen TVs, Keurig coffee makers, wireless internet access and Aveda bath products. Sipping a cocktail in the classic lobby bar or dining at the M St. Cafe and the St. Paul Grill are highlights of many travelers' trips. W Minneapolis - The Foshay
    Minneapolis, MN
#12 in Best Hotels in Minneapolis - St. Paul
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4 based on 1406 reviewsTripAdvisor (1406)

Like most W hotels, The Foshay specializes in sleek, contemporary lodging. But this property is different: Housed in Foshay Tower (which was built in 1929 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places), the hotel blends vintage with modern in its decor. Common areas like the hotel lobby and the Living Room lounge feature W's swanky style with a hint of art deco flavor (though some visitors complain that the dim lighting is hard on the eyes). Recent guests described The Foshay as classy, praising the guest rooms for their bold color palettes and ample amenities, which include flat-screen TVs, media libraries and Bliss bath products. For a true taste of the Roaring Twenties, sink your teeth in to a hearty steak at Manny's before relishing a crisp cocktail at the rooftop bar, Prohibition. Though recent guests raved about the The Foshay's appearance and amenities, they said that the excellent customer service would be their main reason for returning. TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 based on 307 reviewsTripAdvisor (307)

Just up the street from Target Field (home to the Minnesota Twins) and surrounded by a bevy of big-name department stores, The Marquette Hotel is perfect for fans who have come to the Twin Cities for a baseball game, business, or pleasure. The area has numerous eateries and bars to mingle with locals, though if you're not feeling up to a night out, you can satisfy your appetite at the hotel's Basil's Restaurant. Guests note that the nightly rate at this hotel is quite fair, unlike other downtown properties. The hotel's friendly staff and roomy accommodations, complete with Egyptian cotton linens and coffee and tea makers, also earn a thumbs-up. The biggest downside, according to recent visitors, is the fee for in-room Wi-Fi; the hotel is a Hilton property, though, so Honors members receive complimentary Wi-Fi and can use points for upgrades and free stays.

Location, location, location. The Hyatt Regency Minneapolis gives you just that: Prime downtown real estate. But aside from their love of the locale, previous guests express mixed feelings about this Hyatt property. Some rave about the friendliness of the hotel staff and the cleanliness of the facilities, while others complained about the high rates for parking ($42 a day). Though the recent renovations and the presence of on-site amenities such as a heated indoor pool, a fitness center and the Prairie Kitchen and Bar help to ease sticker shock. No surprises that's what recent guests appreciated most about the Hilton Minneapolis. And in the hotel industry, dependability counts for a lot. You can bank on spacious rooms with signature Hilton products like Serenity beds, ample business services and friendly customer service. However, some guests mentioned that the gift/snack shop is a bit on the expensive side. As well as the basics, this hotel boasts some desirable extras, including a pool, a hot tub, a sauna and the Skywater restaurant. Meanwhile, the Hilton Minneapolis' proximity to the convention center and out-of-office amenities make this hotel an ideal pick for business visitors, while sightseers will find themselves just steps from the Walker Art Center, the Guthrie Theater and the Stone Arch Bridge. Le Méridien Chambers Minneapolis

#17 in Best Hotels in Minneapolis - St. Paul
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 based on 475 reviewsTripAdvisor (475)

Part art gallery and part boutique hotel, Le Méridien Chambers Minneapolis combines the trendiest elements of the contemporary art scene with sleek luxury. Visitors most appreciate the property's contemporary ambiance and eye-catching aesthetics. The decor in the guest rooms is a hit simple white, gray and black hues offset by vibrant pops of color (and amenities like iPod docking stations, LCD TVs and heated bathroom floors). However, less-enthralled visitors have complained of some nighttime noise, and it's not hard to see why: This 60-room urban enclave is stationed downtown in a neighborhood peppered with galleries, restaurants and nightlife venues. Should you prefer to stay in for dinner and drinks, sample the Italian fare at Marin Restaurant & Bar. No matter when you visit, you'll have free access to the on-site Burnet Gallery and the Walker Art Center, about a mile away. #20 in Best Hotels in Minneapolis - St. Paul
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4 based on 1199 reviewsTripAdvisor (1199)

Though it may look old on the outside after all, it is housed in the historic Farmers & Mechanics Bank building The Westin Minneapolis provides fresh, contemporary digs in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. Blanketed in beige and green hues, guest rooms offer a relaxed, natural respite from the bustling city streets, while in-room amenities (like 42-inch LED TVs, minibars and Westin's signature Heavenly Beds) are designed for comfort. When you do decide to leave your digs, you'll find a variety of on-site facilities, including a heated indoor pool, a fitness center and a fully loaded business center. And the in-house restaurant, B.A.N.K., receives high praise from previous guests for its swanky atmosphere and inventive American cuisine. The biggest complaint, however, is that the hotel seems a bit understaffed, especially at the front desk and at the bar. But whether you're here for business or pleasure, recent visitors do say that The Westin Minneapolis' downtown location is ideal, especially since the hotel is directly connected to the city's indoor skywalk. Because this property bears the Westin name (and ultimately falls under the Marriott umbrella), Marriott Bonvoy members can earn and use points here.

#21 in Best Hotels in Minneapolis - St. Paul
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4 based on 871 reviewsTripAdvisor (871)

The Hotel Minneapolis impresses the eye with rich furnishings and sleek decor. Guest rooms are fairly simple, decked out in neutral tones, but feature high-tech amenities like 42-inch high-definition TVs, wireless internet access and docking stations. Meanwhile, common areas like the lobby and Restaurant Max feature bold accents and modern fixtures. But the hotel's locale really sets it over the top: It's connected to the city's indoor, heated skyway system, so you can walk to Nicollet Mall, the U.S. Bank Stadium and many other downtown Minneapolis attractions without weathering the often frigid temperatures. One area where guests offer mixed reviews is the food: Some travelers experienced helpful and quick waiters while others said the service was slow and overpriced. Sometimes, staying in the middle of a big city doesn't always yield the most relaxing stay – but the InterContinental Saint Paul Riverfront is different. Recent travelers said the hotel's comfortable beds and views of the Mississippi River made it easier than ever to unwind. What's more, all accommodations at this InterContinental feature complimentary Wi-Fi access, flat-screen TVs, Keurig coffee makers (a guest favorite) and work desks. Business travelers especially sung the praises of this hotel, complimenting the InterContinental's conference facilities, 24-hour business center and close proximity to the Saint Paul RiverCentre convention center. Meanwhile, leisure travelers will appreciate the hotel's connection to the city's skyway system (a network of enclosed bridges connecting various downtown buildings together), especially during the colder months. This InterContinental also boasts a small gym and features a restaurant, the Citizen Supper Club, that serves dinner until 1 a.m. Visitors can also swing by the grab-and-go Coffee Shop, which offers Lavazza coffee, smoothies, sandwiches and pastries.
