    The Beekman, A Thompson Hotel
    New York, NY
#1 in Best Hotels in New York City
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 5 based on 593 reviewsTripAdvisor (593)
    Free WiFi

The Beekman, A Thompson Hotel can be found in New York's lower Manhattan neighborhood near the Brooklyn Bridge and the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. While the property's public spaces feature Old World details like Oriental rugs, rich wood paneling and a pyramidal skylight, this Thompson Hotels outpost's modern guest rooms and suites offer crisp white interiors with custom leather headboards, Carrara marble bathrooms, Asian-inspired lamps and hardwood floors with purple or blue accent rugs. In-room tech amenities include free Wi-Fi access and flat-screen TVs with digital video recorders. After you've settled into your accommodations, grab a bite in one of the two on-site restaurants. Acclaimed chef Tom Colicchio created Temple Court, the hotel's signature restaurant, which serves contemporary American dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Meanwhile, the Keith McNally-affiliated Augustine restaurant, which opened in November 2016, dishes up brasserie-style meals. Overall, past guests enjoyed the hotel's food, service and classic yet trendy vibe, though some complained that rooms could use more outlets and better lighting.

This ultra-trendy Tribeca hotel is often exalted by guests as "outstanding," "stylish" and "bohemian." Each of The Greenwich's 88 rooms and suites features eclectic accents that vary from Moroccan-tiled bathrooms to fine Tibetan silk rugs. And though no two accommodations are the same, travelers rave about the luxurious room amenities, which include flat-screen TVs, iPod docking stations and stocked minibars. Midtown Manhattan's golden Peninsula calls itself a "cocoon of peace and quiet" amid the fray on Fifth Avenue. And recent travelers agree, though they contend that it's an expensive cocoon. Highlights include free internet access, the rooftop terrace Salon de Ning (which offers stunning city views) and a highly acclaimed spa and health club. But that's not all this ultra-luxurious hotel has going for it. Previous visitors cited the top-notch service, spectacular vistas and enviable location (just steps away from Central Park and Rockefeller Center) as equally compelling reasons to return. Others described the property as elegant and serene, praising the hotel's calming color palette and extra touches found in each of the accommodations, such as stocked minibars, marble baths, cozy robes and slippers, and sleek flat-screen TVs. Recent visitors also raved about the delectable dishes and sophisticated atmosphere offered at the hotel's dining establishments, the Clement Restaurant and the Gotham Lounge.

    Park Hyatt New York
    New York, NY
#7 in Best Hotels in New York City
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 based on 1594 reviewsTripAdvisor (1594)
    Free WiFi

Part of the sky-high One57 building, the Park Hyatt New York is one of the newest five-star property in the Big Apple. First opened in August 2014, the hotel houses 210 spacious rooms, including 92 suites, outfitted with natural stone floors, minibars and Nespresso coffee makers as well as dual-sink bathrooms with separate soaking tubs and rainfall showers. Each accommodation also features techie touches, including a built-in TV in the bathroom mirror. When it's time to disconnect and unwind, guests can get a treatment at the on-site Spa Nalai, then take advantage of the hot tub, steam room or indoor swimming pool. The hotel is also home to one restaurant, Bevy, and a cozy bar, The Living Room. Recent guests raved about the large, well-decorated rooms, the friendly staff and the hotel's prime location on West 57th Street, just south of Central Park and across the street from Carnegie Hall. However, some visitors note that because the hotel occupies the first 25 floors of the 90-story building, some of the rooms' views are less than stellar. (Try to book an accommodation on the 19th floor or above, facing midtown Manhattan for the best panorama.) Rates are on the pricey side, but because the hotel falls under the Hyatt umbrella, brand loyalty members are able to earn and redeem points to offset the cost.

Located on Broadway, the NoMad offers a central location six blocks south of the Empire State Building and three blocks north of Madison Square Park. Housed in a beaux-arts building, it's as if this hotel was destined to become a style icon from the start. French designer Jacques Garcia devised the concept of the rooms with his first apartment in mind, creating accommodations that feel more like living spaces than guest rooms. Walls of framed artwork and throw blankets may elicit the feeling of home, while amenities such as clawfoot tubs and upholstered dressing screens remind guests that they've entered into a whole new, impeccably styled world. Accommodations come with tech-friendly amenities like free Wi-Fi access and laptop and iPad rentals, available on request. What the hotel lacks in on-site facilities (it offers a fitness center but not much else), it makes up for in food. Recent guests raved about the excellent cuisine from Michelin-starred chef Daniel Humm at the on-site restaurant. And visitors say if you really want to feel like you're in New York without leaving the hotel, grab a drink in the ultra-swanky Library Bar.
