    5.0-star Hotel Class
    • Free WiFi

This is the official hotel of the St. Petersburg State Hermitage Museum, considered one of the best museums in the world, so expect grandeur unlike any other. The interiors are so opulent – think grand chandeliers, marble floors and columns, gold crown moldings – some felt overwhelmed by its magnificence. The hotel has a lot going for it, but for many guests, its best attribute was its affordability. Travelers can find standard nightly room rates for less than $200 – not bad for a five-star property. Guests were also quick to compliment the delectable on-site dining. Restaurant Catherine the Great is open for dinner only and serves Russian cuisine, while the Michelangelo Restaurant offers up Italian dishes for lunch and dinner. There's also an on-site spa, which features a white-and-blue mosaic-tiled swimming pool, and a fitness center, as well as 24-hour room service and a complimentary shuttle to the museum. Rooms are equipped with complimentary Wi-Fi access, 40-inch flat-screen TVs, minibars, built-in power adapters and free bottled water. The only grievance some guests had was the location, which is not particularly close to St. Petersburg's top attractions.

Lotte Hotel Moscow wins over guests with its impressive staff – the hotel's employees are described as genuinely friendly and eager to help. Plus, many speak English fluently, which allows for easy communication among travelers and staff. This property is located in the Arbat District in Moscow, by various shops and eateries. Though you won't find top attractions like the Red Square and St. Basil's Cathedral within walking distance, several public transit options sit nearby to bring you to other parts of the city. Back at the hotel, there's 300 rooms and suites equipped with flat-screen TVs and tablets for guest services. All room rates also cover parking, high-speed Wi-Fi and access to the spa, indoor pool and fitness center. And if you book directly with the hotel, you'll receive a number of perks. The location of this Ritz-Carlton outpost it one of its major assets. Situated in the heart of Moscow, just a short walk from the Kremlin and St. Basil's Cathedral, the hotel puts guests near all the city has to offer. Accommodations at The Ritz-Carlton, Moscow feature city or courtyard views, marble bathrooms, work desks, flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi access. Similar to the brand's other properties, its Moscow iteration is stocked with on-site amenities: The hotel is home to a spa, a 24-hour fitness center and plenty of meeting space, plus multiple eateries. Novikov Restaurant & Bar plates up Pan-Asian cuisine; Cafe Russe serves breakfast and light snacks daily; The Ritz-Carlton Bar & Lobby Lounge offers appetizers, afternoon tea and various beverages accompanied by live music from noon to midnight; and the O2 Lounge rooftop restaurant and bar features panoramic views of Moscow and a variety of seafood dishes, sushi rolls and cocktails. The only gripe: Some travelers noted the staff members aren't as friendly or accommodating as you might expect for a Ritz-Carlton. Keep in mind that because of the hotel's ties to the Marriott family, Marriott Bonvoy members can accrue or redeem points by choosing to stay here.
