Nashville's most historic and luxurious hotel, The Hermitage is well-appointed and its accommodations feature flat-screen TVs, Molton Brown bath products, complimentary internet access and freshly baked sweets and pastries with the nightly turndown service. The hotel's restaurant, the Capitol Grille, is also quite popular among guests; it serves up scrumptious regional fare with ingredients from a local farm. Quite possibly the most famous hotel in Memphis, The Peabody steals the attention of hotel guests and other tourists twice a day, every day with the Peabody Duck Parade. Dating back to 1925, this hotel is one of the city's oldest and most grand. though some recent visitors say the guest rooms and small bathrooms could use a refresh. Still, travelers do seem to appreciate that The Peabody provides modern amenities, such as 42-inch flat-screen TVs and Wi-Fi access, while maintaining its old-timey charm. With multiple on-site restaurants and bars, you can be sure you won't go hungry after a day exploring the city. What's more, the hotel is home to a resort-style spa, a fitness center and a business center. Now part of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, the hotel allows I Prefer members to earn and redeem points.

TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 based on 342 reviewsTripAdvisor (342)

This West End hotel is one of the only truly modern and chic ones in Nashville. And its cool contemporary design keeps the environment in mind, with reclaimed wood furnishings, light sensors and even a Tesla to shuttle guests around town. Travelers were surprised upon arriving at the Hutton: Though the exterior has an industrial look about it, the hotel lobby and guest rooms are decorated with contemporary art and neutral decor with pops of bright color. Guest room interiors also feature refreshment centers, plush robes and granite bathrooms with rainfall showerheads. Guests also enjoy the Hutton's location, within walking distance of Vanderbilt University and all the shops, bars and restaurants that cater to the collegiate crowd, but some recent guests do warn that the noise level can be too loud for some.

Travelers who want to experience the great outdoors inside will love Big Cypress Lodge. Nestled in downtown Memphis, Tennessee's Bass Pro Shops Pyramid, this rustic retreat offers 103 guest rooms and suites that resemble treehouses and duck hunting camps. All accommodations overlook the city or the property's central cypress and wetland area and come equipped with classic lodge touches like wooden furnishings and fireplaces. Other amenities include minifridges, work desks and flat-screen TVs. Outside the rooms, guests can unwind by a stacked stone fireplace, look for alligators in multiple ponds, shop at the 535,000-square-foot Bass Pro Shops store or learn more about duck hunting at the Ducks Unlimited Waterfowling Heritage Center. A fitness center and a spa with treatments inspired by the South are available as well. Dining options range from an ocean-themed eatery with a bowling alley to The Lookout at the Pyramid, a restaurant that can only be reached by riding the world's tallest freestanding elevator to the top of the pyramid. Many previous lodgers praised the property's "fun concept," although some felt the spacious rooms were overpriced, especially after factoring in the $20 daily resort fee.

TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 5 based on 115 reviewsTripAdvisor (115)

One of the biggest draws of this boutique hotel is its central Knoxville, Tennessee, location. The Tennessean is situated just north of the Sunsphere observation tower and the Knoxville Convention Center, making it a convenient option for both leisure and business travelers. But guests say the hotel's friendly staff and comfortable, well-equipped rooms are just as impressive. All rooms and suites have neutral color palettes with blue and gray patterned carpets, accent chairs and window treatments, plus wooden furnishings and regional map artwork. Illy coffee makers, Cuby radios and flat-screen TVs also come standard, while the 1,646-square-foot Governor's Suite features extra perks like a gas fireplace, a baby grand piano, hardwood floors and floor-to-ceiling windows. The suite's nightly rate covers breakfast and six hours of daily butler service as well. Other on-site amenities include a 24-hour business center, an indoor pool, a fitness center, an executive boardroom and The Drawing Room. But keep in mind that The Drawing Room only serves beverages and small plates in the afternoon and evening.

    0.3 miles to city center
#7 in Best Hotels in Tennessee
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 based on 531 reviewsTripAdvisor (531)
This 1900s train station still accommodates travelers – but no longer those in locomotives. The space now contains a restaurant and lounge, 113 rooms and 12 suites. A renovation in 2007 brought the hotel's decor and amenities into the 21st century with a sleek, contemporary design, flat-screen TVs, large marble bathrooms and pillow-top bedding. Guests enjoy the property's downtown location, its high ceilings and its proximity to several honky-tonks. Some do note that a stay here seems a little overpriced for what you get, but thanks to the hotel's Marriott ties, members of the Marriott Bonvoy program can save some coin by collecting or redeeming points for complimentary perks.
