Located near the Museum of Art, the Dallas edition of the luxurious Ritz-Carlton brand goes beyond just offering many of the amenities you'd expect from a five-star hotel. For instance, this hotel boasts not just a pool, but a saline-treated rooftop pool; and not just facials and massages, but a 12,000-square-foot spa. But guests say that the rooms alone are worth The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas' high price tag. Spacious and elegant, these high-end digs come equipped with 400-thread-count linens and iPod docking stations, not to mention HD televisions and fully stocked minibars. If peanuts and cookies won't tide you over, make reservations at Fearing's Restaurant; previous visitors said that the eatery deserves its numerous accolades thanks to its gourmet American cuisine. But while most recent guests were satisified, a few say the service wasn't up to par for a Ritz. Because of The Ritz-Carlton's affiliation with Marriott, member's of the company's loyalty program can trade in their rewards points for extra perks.

Rosewood Hotel Group's flagship property sits north of the vibrant Dallas Arts District, providing the tranquility needed for a good night's sleep alongside the convenience of a relatively central location. Oil heiress Caroline Rose Hunt turned this mansion of a former cotton mogul into a hotel in 1979. Now, the property envelopes guests in elegant decor, with guest rooms sporting French doors opening up onto private balconies. (Meanwhile, the Rose Buds for Children program will ensure that your little one has everything he or she needs for a peaceful night, including kid-friendly bath products and a crib, if necessary.) When you're not admiring your digs, take advantage of the hotel's outdoor pool and deck or head to one of the nearby parks for a little fresh air. And to satisfy your taste buds, chef Bruno Davaillon cooks up contemporary American cuisine with a French twist at Mansion Restaurant. This five-star hotel gets rave reviews, with many recent guests saying the staff go above and beyond to anticipate guests needs. However, there are still some naysayers who – despite the hotel's recent renovations – claim there's room for design improvements.

Hotel Emma stands out among travelers for its cool culture. This is largely brought on by the hotel's history as a former brewery. In 1916, Pearl's Brewhouse became the largest brewery in Texas, and although its heyday has come and gone, many of the Pearl's original architectural features are still intact. Visitors marvel at the refined industrial elements featured throughout – particularly in the lobby – and are equally impressed with the quality of the accommodations. Guests report rooms to be exceptionally styled and comfortable, thanks to amenities like 48-inch flat-screen TVs, beds with Frette linens and luxury bathrobes. And food is just as much of a staple here as beer used to be. Foodies can take advantage of the on-site culinary concierge, grab some house-butchered meats at Larder, enjoy small plates at Sternewirth or sample the farm-to-table fare at Supper. There is also a rooftop pool, a fitness center, a library and a gift shop on-site. Service consistently wows lodgers, as does the hotel's location just 2 miles north of downtown San Antonio

Located 13 miles northwest of Dallas, the Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas is quite a mouthful. But it's also quite a hotel. Surrounded by 400 acres of rolling Texas hills, this expansive Four Seasons property is home to a spa, an 18-hole golf course and several restaurants and lounges. And that's on top of the 431 guest rooms, which visitors describe as spacious and comfortable with plush bedding and marble bathrooms that include soaking tubs. Travelers also say that there's no shortage of things to do at this resort, from practicing your tennis swing to lounging by one of the four pools. However, if you plan on doing any sightseeing in Dallas or Fort Worth, you might want to pick a hotel closer in – it can take quite a bit of time in heavy traffic to travel between Irving and Dallas.

Whether in Houston for work or play, recent guests weren't disappointed with their stay at the Four Seasons Hotel Houston. This five-star property is located downtown on Lamar Street, making it easy to get from your room to game day at Minute Maid Park or to the big meeting at the George R. Brown Convention Center. However, you might find leaving the premises harder than you think: Previous guests rave about the guest rooms, which are decked out in cozy cream hues and include amenities like luxury bath products, giant windows, complimentary Wi-Fi and access to an expansive DVD library, though several thought the rooms were a tad outdated. If you do decide to vacate your room for a few hours, you'll uncover an in-house spa that offers everything from seaweed masks to hot stone massages, as well as an outdoor deck with a pool, hot tub and fire pit. You also won't have to look far for dinner; previous visitors only had good things to say about the Italian fare served at the on-site Quattro restaurant. But what guests like most about this member of the Four Seasons family is its stellar customer service.

ZaZa hotels have a bit of an eclectic reputation, and the Houston branch is no different. For instance, animal-print chairs accompany crystal chandeliers, and bold-patterned carpets offset one-of-a-kind artwork. But somehow it all comes together. Guests describe Hotel ZaZa's ambiance as memorable, and they praise the trendy-yet-comfortable guest rooms (stocked with private bars, complimentary internet access, rainfall showers and Gilchrist & Soames bath products). If you can afford it, splurge on a "concept" suite. The themed decor in these spacious digs really showcases Hotel ZaZa Houston's attention to detail. Travelers also praise the property's facilities, especially the poolside lounge where you can kick back and nurse cocktails all afternoon. Or, you can find your bout of R&R in ZaSpa before digging in to a gourmet meal at Monarch. And should you find yourself going slightly stir-crazy, Houston's Museum District is just steps away.

Anchoring the heart of the Live Music Capital (just a few short blocks from the State Capitol) this historical property and hotel heavyweight has been accommodating Austin's visitors for more than a century. But just because this property is the city's grand dame doesn't mean it's stuck in the past. Sure, visitors are drawn to The Driskill's period decor – the property's leather furniture and embossed ceilings add a sense of grandeur – but they also appreciate the guest rooms' more contemporary amenities, like plasma TVs and complimentary high-speed internet access. The hotel's restaurants, The Driskill Grill and the 1886 Café & Bakery, also earn high praise, with diners calling the food spectacular and the service on point.
