The key to COMO Parrot Cay is personalization: Located on a private Turks and Caicos island northeast of Providenciales, this boutique resort strives to embody the perfect beach vacation for every taste, with various experiences that include customized excursions and intimate dinners. Head to the COMO Shambhala Retreat to enjoy a private yoga class or a hot river stone massage. For a more active experience, borrow kayaks or snorkeling gear to use at your leisure. Even dining is up to you: Eat in your villa, in one of two restaurants or on the beach. Guests love COMO Parrot Cay's food, which is always fresh, organic (when possible) and Caribbean-inspired. However, some caution that the on-site cuisine is expensive. After dinner, retire to one of 72 guest rooms, suites, villas or houses, which are all bathed with natural light and adorned with four-poster beds (draped in white voile), minibars and private verandas or sun decks.

The protected waters of Princess Alexandra National Park on Grace Bay frame Seven Stars Resort & Spa, making it a seafarer's paradise. After swimming, snorkeling or sailing (all complimentary), guests can retire to one of Seven Stars' suites, all equipped with furnished terraces or patios, flat-screen TVs and plush robes. Suites also include full kitchens or kitchenettes with Nespresso machines and marble bathrooms with separate showers and Jacuzzis. When you get hungry, you can choose from two gourmet on-site restaurants (one of which offers a free breakfast buffet) or get poolside service at Providenciales' only heated saltwater pool. If you want to hit the spa, just drop the little ones off at the kids club. But according to guests, the resort's greatest attribute is its proximity to the airport: A 7-mile drive will bring you to Seven Stars' doorstep. The only drawback for some is the lackluster customer service.

This Turks and Caicos Islands resort's 91 guest rooms, suites and villas feature amenities like complimentary wireless internet access, electronically controlled blinds, Bose iPod docking stations and LCD TVs with DVD players. For all of Wymara's high fashion, it does have a function: relaxation. Stretch out on a chaise lounge on the beach, or reserve a beach bed for the day (it comes with a fruit platter and a bottle of chilled rosé wine). A member of the family-friendly, all-inclusive fleet of Beaches Resorts that are part of the Sandals Resorts family, Beaches Turks & Caicos offers plenty of fun for kids and parents. In fact, guests warn against coming here without kids, as there are so many child-friendly activities that some childless guests found the amount of young people around a bit annoying. This Turks and Caicos Islands resort's 45,000-square-foot Pirates Island Waterpark will keep everyone occupied with some fun in the sun, while the Xbox Play Lounge and youth-friendly dance club will entertain even the grumpiest teenagers. After a massage at the Red Lane Spa, regroup for a meal at one of Beaches' 21 restaurants, which serve up everything from pizzas to sushi to burgers. (Rest assured, there's also the adults-only Sapodilla's for a romantic dinner for two.) Come back home to Beaches Turks & Caicos' guest rooms and suites, which feature balconies or patios, white or wooden beds, free Wi-Fi access, stocked minifridges and smart TVs. True to the resort's name, all accommodations sit within walking distance of Grace Bay's alabaster beach, though standard rooms overlook the resort's pools and gardens.

It's not just the welcome rum punch talking – guests can't stop raving about The Somerset on Grace Bay's beauty. With 53 guest rooms and villas housed in three buildings that symmetrically surround a swimming pool, this boutique resort is certainly a pleasure to look at. The accommodations also earn high praise from visitors for their marble bathrooms, kitchenettes or kitchens, mahogany furnishings and queen-sized beds. (However, standard rooms do not offer laundry machines or outdoor spaces that overlook the ocean.) But there's more to The Somerset than meets the eye: You can participate in a variety of land or water activities, from Pilates to snorkeling to spa treatments to swims in the infinity pool (though some activities require a one-time fee). Plus, guests can try out croquet on the only regulation lawn on the Turks and Caicos Islands. Kids can also spend time doing supervised activities at the complimentary Caicos Kids Club. When you've worked up an appetite, you can either request a private chef to cook dinner for you in your villa or dine with an ocean view at the casual LunaSea Pool Bar & Grill or the upscale Pavilion restaurant.

With honeymoon specials and kid-friendly activities, The Regent Grand in Providenciales on the Turks and Caicos Islands caters to both couples and families. The resort's studio to four-bedroom suites can accommodate duos or groups, and each suite comes equipped with complimentary Wi-Fi access, kitchenettes or kitchens, coffee makers and flat-screen TVs with DVD players. Upgraded suites also boast private balconies and in-suite washers and dryers. Guests laud The Regent's heated infinity pool – inlaid with mosaic tiles – which beckons to swimmers of all ages. When all of that swimming has caused you to work up an appetite, head to the adjacent Vix Bar & Grill, where you can enjoy a casual meal with a Caribbean twist. Even a day of golf can be an affordable family outing: Regent guests receive discounts at Provo Golf Club (those in oceanfront suites get complimentary rounds), while children younger than 16 can hit the links for free. Despite all of these pluses, reviewers report a couple of drawbacks: Service is occasionally spotty, and ongoing renovations on the property means construction noise can be a nuisance at times.

Guests say that the Preferred-affiliated West Bay Club's suites feel like a home away from home. Maybe that's because they come appointed with kitchens or kitchenettes that can be stocked with groceries prior to arrival –if you opt (and pay) for it. Or maybe it's the free wireless internet access and flat-screen TV that keep you connected to the outside world. Once you venture outside your room, you'll be greeted by views of Grace Bay and central Provo – certainly a break from the ordinary. Get out and enjoy the Turks and Caicos scenery with complimentary beach lounge chairs, snorkeling gear or Hobie Cat sailboats. At night, the beach turns up the romance a notch; duos can schedule a private sunset dinner right on the sand. If you're having trouble deciding what to do, visitors recommend chatting with West Bay's helpful concierge, who can point you in the right direction. However, some say service from the housekeeping and waitstaff is off at times. Others lament the lack of an on-site spa. Amanyara emphasizes relaxation. In fact, its name comes from aman, the Sanskrit word for "peace." Located on the secluded northernmost tip of Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos Islands, Amanyara takes pampering to a whole new level. Guests may choose to bed down in either a one-bedroom pavilion or a multiroom villa, each minimally decorated and appointed with a platform bed, a flat-screen TV with a DVD player, a freestanding bathtub and sliding glass doors (some of which lead to private pools or outdoor showers). Along with the beautiful (albeit expensive) accommodations, visitors commend Amanyara's facilities, especially its spa and beach. Even with an upscale restaurant (which receives mixed reviews from diners) and an emphasis on tranquility, Amanyara does not rule out younger visitors. The Nature Discovery Centre is a place for kids to get up close and personal with the islands' marine life, and the clubhouse offers everything from shuffleboard and pingpong to volleyball to tennis.

Named for its location on the "point" of Grace Bay in the Turks and Caicos Islands, this boutique resort evokes a sense of 19th-century British colonial elegance thanks to its ornate banisters and whitewashed walls. Each of Point Grace Resort and Spa's suites and penthouses boasts more than 1,000 square feet of space, with separate bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens and en-suite bathrooms (which feature claw foot tubs). And because of the property's affiliation with Small Luxury Hotels of the World, members of the INVITED rewards program can use reward night vouchers to cover the cost of their suite. Guests can dine at either Grace's Cottage or Hutchings Restaurant for a taste of the Caribbean, although some recent guests said the menus lack variety. The Venetian on Grace Bay offers a luxurious retreat on Providenciales in the Caribbean. The property's appeal stems from its location in Grace Bay, one of the most popular stretches of sand in the Turks and Caicos islands. The resort overlooks a quiet white sand beach, and the all-suite accommodations include balconies or patios that face the calm Caribbean Sea. Guest rooms also feature full kitchens, separate living areas and free Wi-Fi access. Meanwhile, the property boasts complimentary amenities like tennis courts, bicycles, a swimming pool, a whirlpool, board games and a fitness center. An on-site concierge is also available to book golf tee times (there is a course across the street), as well as excursions like fishing, horseback riding, caving, sailing, hiking, diving, wakeboarding and kayaking. Although the resort lacks an on-site bar or restaurant, it does offer a freshwater infinity pool, plus it boasts a 300-foot stretch along Grace Bay Beach. And if you want to go off-site to grab dinner after a day on the beach, you can find other resorts, restaurants and bars within walking distance (the resort provides guests with free bicycles as well). Most guests described their stays at Le Vele Resort as excellent, citing the property's beautifully manicured grounds and the staff's attention to detail as reasons to return, though a few did note unpleasant run-ins with select employees. With 22 suites and no on-site bar, it's safe to say Le Vele Resort is not a party destination, but rather an ideal retreat for travelers seeking a secluded getaway.
