A trendy, contemporary art hotel designed by French architect Jean Nouvel, Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom stands out in a city that is known for its more traditional style. The guest rooms, on the other hand, are all white: The linens, floors, ceiling, bathrooms and furniture are stark white so as not to take away from the panoramic Vienna skyline vistas. Recent guests loved the views, the modern furnishings and the luxury bathrooms with Hermès toiletries and separate showers and tubs, though several said the all-white furnishings were starting to show signs of wear. Guests also pointed out that the rooms were quiet, even those underneath the restaurant.
