    The Beekman, A Thompson Hotel
    New York, NY
    5-star HOTEL CLASS
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 based on 951 reviewsTripAdvisor (951)
    Free WiFi

The Beekman, A Thompson Hotel can be found in New York's lower Manhattan neighborhood near the Brooklyn Bridge and the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. While the property's public spaces feature Old World details like Oriental rugs, rich wood paneling and a pyramidal skylight, this Thompson Hotels outpost's modern guest rooms and suites offer crisp white interiors with custom leather headboards, Carrara marble bathrooms, Asian-inspired lamps and hardwood floors with purple or blue accent rugs. In-room tech amenities include free Wi-Fi access and flat-screen TVs with digital video recorders. After you've settled into your accommodations, grab a bite in one of the two on-site restaurants. Acclaimed chef Tom Colicchio created Temple Court, the hotel's signature restaurant, which serves contemporary American dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Meanwhile, the Keith McNally-affiliated Augustine restaurant, which opened in November 2016, dishes up brasserie-style meals. Or, if you'd like a light dinner alongside specialty libations, visit the Alley Cat lounge in the once-hidden cellar. You can also listen to DJs and musicians at this venue. Overall, past guests enjoyed the hotel's food, service and classic yet trendy vibe, though some complained that rooms could use more outlets and better lighting.

Hotel 50 Bowery, A Joie de Vivre Hotel
    New York City, NY
    4.5-star HOTEL CLASS
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 5 based on 525 reviewsTripAdvisor (525)
    Free WiFi

A trendy newcomer to the Lower East Side in Manhattan, Hotel 50 Bowery opened in May 2017 and is the first Joie de Vivre hotel in New York City. Travelers laud the views from the rooms and the rooftop, the modern decor and the friendly hotel staff. Accommodations are equipped with free Wi-Fi access, stocked minifridges, personal steamers and Jonathan Adler toiletries. All feature neutral colors like white, gray and wood, with colorful accent linens, textured walls and original artwork. (The only standard amenity some felt was missing from their rooms was a coffee maker; one can be requested from the front desk.) Keep in mind that there is a daily hotel fee that includes Wi-Fi access, use of the fitness center, free coffee in the lobby, dining discounts, concierge service and more. Previous guests highly recommend the 21st-floor rooftop bar and lounge, The Crown, for its excellent skyline views and its tasty libations and small plates. Those looking for a more substantial meal can savor Asian cuisine at Rice & Gold or explore the surrounding eateries in Chinatown. The property can also host meetings, events and weddings in any of its indoor or outdoor venues. While Hotel 50 Bowery is slightly removed from the city's major attractions, travelers can easily access them via two nearby subway stations. Plus, the hotel's location puts guests near Brooklyn and many of Manhattan's vibrant neighborhoods, including SoHo, the East Village and Little Italy.

    Gild Hall, A Thompson Hotel
    New York, NY
    4.5-star HOTEL CLASS
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 based on 2027 reviewsTripAdvisor (2027)

Located in the Financial District on Manhattan's Lower East Side, this Thompson Group hotel offers an eclectic atmosphere found in all of its cozy accommodations. Each room is furnished with 12-foot ceilings with antique brass chandeliers, 55-inch flat-screen TVs, an iPod docking station, designer toiletries and a minibar stocked with deluxe snacks (all amenities recent guests loved). Plus, the in-house Felice Ristorante receives high marks among recent patrons for its superb service and delectable Italian fare. Most previous visitors praised this swanky hotel, citing the impeccable customer service and excellent dining experience at Felice as primary reasons to return. Though a stay here is expensive (especially with the added resort and parking fees) this hotel's location near multiple subway lines makes it an excellent option for tourists new to the city.

    4-star HOTEL CLASS
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 based on 2837 reviewsTripAdvisor (2837)

Travelers have great things to say about this boutique hotel in Manhattan. Recent guests raved about the Park South Hotel's location, just half a block from the 28th Street subway station and within walking distance of Madison Square Park, Herald Square and the Empire State Building, and added that the excellent staff here made their stays particularly memorable. But the hotel's employees aren't the only notable aspect. The property's sleek accommodations feature a slate gray, white and dark charcoal color scheme, with chandeliers hanging from high ceilings and large windows that provide city views. While some noted the rooms are on the smaller side, they come with free Wi-Fi access and turndown service with chocolates at night. Complimentary treats all around are another part of Park South Hotel's charm: The hotel offers a nightly wine and cheese reception Monday to Thursday and sweet and savory baked goods in the morning, plus coffee and juice. But if you're looking for a little more sustenance, you can head to Roof at Park South, the hotel's seasonal rooftop lounge, O YA, a Japanese restaurant that offers multicourse menus; or Covina Bar & Restaurant, which serves American-Mediterranean fare.
