Destination Hotels & Resorts became part of the Two Roads Hospitality family in 2016. Each of the brand's nearly 40 desert resorts, oceanfront villas and ski lodges evokes the geography of a particular region of the U.S. or Mexico through decor: L'Auberge Del Mar overlooks California's dramatic seaside landscape, while Stowe Mountain Lodge's 18-hole golf course, ski-in/ski-out access and inviting Hourglass bar offer cozy retreats from Stowe, Vermont's winterscapes. Regardless of location, Destination properties emphasize relaxation and recreation (often in the form of spas and golf courses), and every property contains conference facilities. Plus, members of the brand's Destination Delivers loyalty program receive extra perks like free room upgrades or late checkout at select properties. The following Destination Hotels hold spots on our Best Hotels in the USA and Best Hotels in Mexico rankings.

Sitting in central Sedona, Arizona, less than a mile north of the Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village, the L'Auberge de Sedona Resort & Spa offers guests a peaceful getaway without sacrificing an in-town location. Recent visitors praised the resort's relaxed setting along the banks of Oak Creek and describe the lodge's guest rooms – complete with contemporary furnishings and high-tech amenities – as cozy. The resort also contains individual cabins with private porches or patios, as well as fireplaces for those who need a little extra room. No matter which type of accommodation you choose, you'll be treated to luxurious Italian linens, Illy coffee makers, complimentary high-speed internet access and L'OCCITANE bath products. Travelers also give kudos to L'Auberge's customer service, saying that everyone – from the spa therapists to the waiters at the Cress on Oak Creek restaurant – was extremely friendly. Don't miss the opportunity to experience the property's indoor/outdoor wine bar either. Just beware that everything here, from the parking fee to the service charge, is quite expensive.

    The Lodge at Spruce Peak
    Stowe, VT
    #2 in Best Destination Hotels
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 based on 3310 reviewsTripAdvisor (3310)
As its name implies, this lodge rests at the base of Stowe Mountain. So naturally, guests rave about the awe-inspiring views of the area's glistening lakes and towering peaks. Another major asset: The gondola to the slopes of Mount Mansfield and Spruce Peak is just steps away from the hotel's door. Amenities are tailored to powder-hounds – there's even a ski and snowboard valet – but non-skiers can appreciate the stone-encased fireplaces, the heated outdoor pool and the exceptional in-house eateries. Guests also praise the treatments offered at The Spa and Wellness Center, many of which are inspired by American Indian traditions. What's more, the resort is pet-friendly, inviting four-legged friends weighing up to 100 pounds. Previous visitors also ensure a restful nights' sleep in the well-appointed accommodations, which come with sleek flat-screen TVs, sumptuous goose-down feather beds and marble bathrooms with bathtubs. Though there is a $40 daily resort fee at this lodge, guests say the customer service team made their stay worth it.

L'Auberge Del Mar, A Destination Hotel
    Del Mar, CA
    18.8 miles to city center
    #4 in Best Destination Hotels
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4 based on 1202 reviewsTripAdvisor (1202)
At the center of the Del Mar Village north of San Diego, L'Auberge Del Mar offers lavish comforts in a relaxed setting. Recent guests say that the friendly staff – particularly behind the front desk – were always eager to lend a hand. With plush beds and a light color palette, the rooms exude a quaint rather than ritzy atmosphere, according to visitors. The property also encourages visitors to take advantage of the treatments offered at Spa L'Auberge and the fresh seafood served at both KITCHEN 1540 and Coastline. But travelers say L'Auberge's best asset is its proximity to the beach – just a short downhill walk. And the hotel's location also places guests near boutique shops, golf courses and Del Mar Racing track. Though there are hefty resort and parking fees at this hotel, other amenities like a fitness center, business center and complimentary shuttle service make staying here worthwile.

    Kirkland, WA
    6.8 miles to city center
    #6 in Best Destination Hotels
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 based on 1306 reviewsTripAdvisor (1306)
Nestled in the über-upscale suburb of Kirkland (guests here share vistas with Bill Gates' mansion), The Woodmark Hotel and Still Spa feels more like an exclusive resort than a hotel. Basic amenities include complimentary "Raid the Pantry" late-night snacks, cozy in-room chenille throws, flat-screen TVs and Molton Brown toiletries. And then there's the Still Spa, which features unique and luxurious treatments inspired by the Pacific Northwest. Recent travelers were also really impressed with their dinner at the Bin on the Lake restaurant and the stellar service staff throughout the Destination Hotel. The Beach Cafe is another waterfront dining option that guests love for its fresh fish selection. However, visitors were disappointed that you had to pay an additional nightly amenity fee. You'll find The Woodmark Hotel & Spa about 10 miles northeast of Seattle on a picturesque lakefront, and guests can enjoy the natural beauty of the area on complimentary bikes or kayaks.
