Founded on the belief that music makes people feel good, the Hard Rock Hotels group – which boasts 24 hotels, excluding the 17 outposts currently under construction – has been infusing hospitality with a hearty dose of rock 'n' roll since 1971. The company says that its existence in the travel sphere originated out of necessity: Hard Rock guests love to play hard, but as the festivities die down and the sun rises, even rockers need a place to crash. These distinguished hotels – with their themed decor, fine dining facilities, dazzling casinos and in-house night clubs – strive to provide the ideal after-hours locale. Plus, every time you stay at one of these upscale properties (found everywhere from Asia to the Caribbean), you can rack up points through the Hard Rock Rewards program. The 14 Hard Rock properties that made the U.S. News Best Hotels in the USA, Best Hotels in Europe and Best Hotels in Mexico rankings lists appear below.

Overlooking the glittering San Diego Bay and rising high above the Gaslamp Quarter, the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego is all about being cool. From its trendy food options (Sunday brunch at Maryjane's and fresh sushi at Nobu) and its swanky decor, to its rooftop pool and entertainment lineup, the Hard Rock will definitely keep you occupied on a rainy day (though there aren't many in San Diego). Guests rave about the hotel's stylish guest rooms, which feature halo-illuminated beds, flat-screen TVs and ceiling-mounted Hansgrohe rain showers. Despite the deluxe digs, this hotel is not really geared towards families and relaxation (no on-site spa). But if you're one to embrace the music, take advantage of the Sound of Your Stay program, which offers free downloads, Fender guitar rentals and a chance to try your hand at being a DJ.

This Hard Rock Hotel outpost is turning up the volume on Palm Springs hospitality. Like its sister hotels, the Hard Rock Hotel Palm Springs offers guests rock star treatment, allowing them to borrow Fender guitars, mix their own music and chill in the VIP areas of the on-site bar. The hotel's 163 guest rooms are dressed in purple and cream hues and vibrant patterns, and come with flat-screen TVs, Keurig coffee makers, iHome radios, and, in some cases, terraces or balconies. But visitors shouldn't plan on spending too much time in their rooms: The Hard Rock Hotel boasts a trendy pool area (where parties are frequently held) and the more relaxing Rock Spa, which offers a long list of massages and skin treatments. The property's in-house eatery, The Kitchen, is a highlight for many previous guests, who love the tasty comfort food and small plates. Just note: Despite their glowing reviews of the property amenities and appearance, some guests warn that there are still a few customer service glitches to work out.
