    Park Hyatt New York
    New York, NY
    1.1 miles to city center
    • Free WiFi

    5.0-star Hotel Class
    • Free WiFi

Part of the sky-high One57 building, the Park Hyatt New York is one of the newest five-star properties in the Big Apple. First opened in August 2014, the hotel houses 210 spacious rooms, including 92 suites, outfitted with natural stone floors, minibars and Nespresso coffee makers, as well as dual-sink bathrooms with separate soaking tubs and rainfall showers. Each accommodation also features techie touches, including a TV built into the bathroom mirror. When it's time to disconnect and unwind, guests can get a treatment at the on-site Spa Nalai, then take advantage of the hot tub, steam room or indoor swimming pool. The hotel is also home to the Livint Room, a cozy bar and restaurant. Recent guests raved about the large, well-decorated guest rooms, the friendly staff and the hotel's prime location on West 57th Street, just south of Central Park and across the street from Carnegie Hall. However, some visitors note that because the hotel occupies the first 25 floors of the 90-story building, some of the rooms' views are less than stellar. (Try to book an accommodation on the 19th floor or above, facing midtown Manhattan for the best panorama.) Rates are on the pricey side, but because the hotel falls under the Hyatt umbrella, brand loyalty members are able to earn and redeem points to offset the cost.

    The Beekman, A Thompson Hotel
    New York, NY
    2.9 miles to city center
    • Free WiFi

    5.0-star Hotel Class
    • Free WiFi

The Beekman, A Thompson Hotel can be found in New York's lower Manhattan neighborhood near the Brooklyn Bridge and the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. While the property's public spaces feature old-world details like Oriental rugs, rich wood paneling and a pyramidal skylight, this Thompson Hotels outpost's modern guest rooms and suites offer crisp white interiors with custom leather headboards, Carrara marble bathrooms, Asian-inspired lamps and hardwood floors with purple or blue accent rugs. In-room tech amenities include free Wi-Fi access and flat-screen TVs with digital video recorders. After you've settled into your accommodations, grab a bite in one of the two on-site restaurants. Acclaimed chef Tom Colicchio created Temple Court, the hotel's signature restaurant, which serves contemporary American dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Meanwhile, Augustine restaurant dishes up brasserie-style meals. Or, if you'd like a light dinner alongside specialty libations, visit the Alley Cat Amateaur Theatre, a lounge located in a once-hidden cellar. You can also listen to DJs and musicians at this venue. Overall, past guests enjoyed the hotel's food, service and classic yet trendy vibe, though some complained that rooms could use more outlets and better lighting. Keep in mind as well, this hotel charges a nightly destination fee on top of the room rate.

A trendy newcomer to the Lower East Side in Manhattan, Hotel 50 Bowery opened in May 2017 and is the first Joie de Vivre hotel in New York City. Travelers laud the views from the rooms and the rooftop, the modern decor and the friendly hotel staff. Accommodations are equipped with free Wi-Fi access, stocked minifridges, personal steamers and Jonathan Adler toiletries. All feature neutral colors like white, gray and wood, with colorful accent linens, textured walls and original artwork. (The only standard amenity some felt was missing from their rooms was a coffee maker; one can be requested from the front desk.) Keep in mind that there is a daily hotel fee that includes Wi-Fi access, use of the fitness center, free coffee in the lobby, dining discounts, concierge service and more. Previous guests highly recommend the 21st-floor rooftop bar and lounge, The Crown, for its excellent skyline views and its tasty libations and small plates. Those looking for a more substantial meal can savor Asian cuisine at Rice & Gold or explore the surrounding eateries in Chinatown. The property can also host meetings, events and weddings in any of its indoor or outdoor venues. While Hotel 50 Bowery is slightly removed from the city's major attractions, travelers can easily access them via two nearby subway stations. Plus, the hotel's location puts guests near Brooklyn and many of Manhattan's vibrant neighborhoods, including SoHo, the East Village and Little Italy. Travelers have great things to say about this boutique hotel in Manhattan. Recent guests raved about the Park South Hotel's location, just half a block from the 28th Street subway station and within walking distance of Madison Square Park, Herald Square and the Empire State Building, and added that the excellent staff here made their stays particularly memorable. But the hotel's employees aren't the only notable aspect. The property's sleek accommodations feature a slate gray, white and dark charcoal color scheme, with chandeliers hanging from high ceilings and large windows that provide city views. Hyatt Union Square New York
    New York, NY
    1.1 miles to city center
    • Free WiFi

    4.0-star Hotel Class
    • Free WiFi

The interior of this newer Hyatt property (with 25-foot-high ceilings in the lobby) offers a fresh, contemporary contrast to the building's historical façade. Open spaces, large windows and modern furnishings carry over from check-in to the accommodations. However, some guests report that the rooms are on the small side. Just one block off of Union Square, this Hyatt is especially well-suited for city goers looking to spend time at New York University or in the East Village, but less favorable for visitors who come for the bright lights of Times Square or the fancy shopping of Fifth Avenue. Meanwhile, the American fare at the on-site restaurant, Bowery Road, is popular among recent guests, although some note that with so many exciting restaurants nearby, it's hard to stay inside the hotel for a meal. If you frequent Hyatt properties, take note that this hotel participates in the World of Hyatt rewards program.

One of the biggest on-site attractions is the rooftop lounge and Bar 54, previous guests said it's a great place to sip craft cocktails and take in views of the Manhattan skyline from 54 floors up. After a long day of exploration, guests can dine at New York Central before retiring to one of the hotel's accommodations, which feature all of the Hyatt amenities you would expect: Hyatt Grand Beds, 37-inch flat-screen TVs, Geneva Sound Systems with iPod docking stations and marble bathrooms. The hotel also boasts a 24-hour fitness center and easy access to iconic New York City landmarks, like Times Square, Fifth Avenue and Central Park. However, some guests say that despite the hotel's fairly recent major facelift, the rates are still overpriced for the lacking customer service.
