Pan American World Airways opened the first InterContinental hotel back in 1946, making it the world's oldest international hotel brand. Celebrities and dignitaries, such as Ava Gardener, Louis Armstrong, President Ronald Reagan and Britain's Prince William, have all been guests of InterContinental hotels. Because InterContinental properties (there are more than 180 of them across more than 60 countries) are individually owned, each exhibits its own distinct personality reflective of its location. What's more, many InterContinental hotels – such as The Willard InterContinental in Washington, D.C., and the InterContinental London Park Lane – are housed in historically significant buildings, which only adds to the ambiance. However, every InterContinental hotel adheres to the brand's standards, touting high-end amenities and fine dining establishments. Guests who frequently stay at InterContinental Hotels Group properties can sign up to earn free stays, transportation discounts and even guided tours through the IHG Rewards Club program. Many InterContinental properties have earned spots on our Best Hotels in the USA, Best Hotels in Mexico, Best Hotels in Europe and Best Hotels in Canada rankings. U.S. News-ranked InterContinental properties are listed below.

Sometimes, staying in the middle of a big city doesn't always yield the most relaxing stay – but the InterContinental Saint Paul Riverfront is different. Recent travelers said the hotel's comfortable beds and views of the Mississippi River made it easier than ever to unwind. What's more, all accommodations at this InterContinental feature complimentary Wi-Fi access, flat-screen TVs, Keurig coffee makers (a guest favorite) and work desks. Business travelers especially sung the praises of this hotel, complimenting the InterContinental's conference facilities, 24-hour business center and close proximity to the Saint Paul RiverCentre convention center. Meanwhile, leisure travelers will appreciate the hotel's connection to the city's skyway system (a network of enclosed bridges connecting various downtown buildings together), especially during the colder months. This InterContinental also boasts a small gym and features a restaurant, the Citizen Supper Club, that serves dinner until 1 a.m. Visitors can also swing by the grab-and-go Coffee Shop, which offers Lavazza coffee, smoothies, sandwiches and pastries. And for parking, guests were pretty pleased with the rates, in comparison to those found in other downtown city areas. Plus, thanks to the property's brand connection, members of the IHG Rewards Club can earn or redeem points here.
