    Argonaut Hotel
    San Francisco, CA
    1.5 miles to city center
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 based on 6561 reviewsTripAdvisor (6561)
    Free WiFi
Guests of this hotel in Fisherman's Wharf will feel as if they've just stepped aboard a cruise ship, even though the Argonaut Hotel sits firmly on solid ground. Guest rooms – which are decked out with nautical artifacts – offer spectacular views of San Francisco Bay. (Just note that these vistas don't come cheap, according to some travelers.) Meanwhile, common areas like the lobby and the in-house seafood restaurant, Blue Mermaid Restaurant, feature vibrant colors and fun, quirky furnishings. Visitors especially appreciate the excellent customer service and variety of amenities available, including a fitness center, spa and business center. Other guests, however, lamented the high price for parking. However, it's close proximity to the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and Lombard Street earn high marks among travelers.

    Gateway Canyons Resort
    Gateway, CO
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 based on 438 reviewsTripAdvisor (438)
    Free WiFi

Travelers are enchanted by all that the Gateway Canyons Resort has to offer. Situated a stone's throw from the Colorado-Utah border in Unaweep Canyon – more than 300 miles west of Colorado Springs – the resort definitely occupies a unique location. Though it's a trek to get here, visitors say both the journey (scenic highways abound) and the destination are completely worth it. Lodgers loved waking up to the canyon's stunning red rocks and appreciated the myriad of activities offered, both on-site and off (recent guests said hiking and horseback riding are two must-dos). The spa also earned praise for its relaxing offerings, and the staff members garnered compliments for impeccable service. Accommodations here run large, with standard guest rooms starting at 475 square feet. Rooms are outfitted in colorful southwestern-style decor and feature flat-screen TVs, minifridges and coffeemakers. Some also boast gas fireplaces and patios with built-in fire pits. There are several dining options here as well, including the chandelier-clad Entrada, which focuses on Colorado cuisine, and Paradox Grille, which specalizes in entertainment and continental fare.

LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort, A Noble House Resort
    Naples, FL
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 based on 2555 reviewsTripAdvisor (2555)

You won't have to catch a shuttle to the beach at this aptly named Naples, Florida, resort ("La Playa" means "the beach" in Spanish) – many of the property's airy rooms offer picture-perfect ocean views. When you're lounging on the sands, take advantage of LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort's beach butler service: Dedicated attendents will bring you everything from cold drinks to towels. This whimsically designed property also boasts its own 18-hole golf course, a major perk for the golfing set. And when it comes time to refuel, grab your special someone and head to the main in-house restaurant, BALEEN. Many visitors say the ambiance of this eatery is romantic, but the seafood-laden (albeit pricey) menu is what really gets hearts pumping. Or, settle in to one of the property's guest rooms, which are dressed in bright patterned decor and come equipped with furnished balconies and pillow-top mattresses. The property's $32 daily resort fee also covers in-room Wi-Fi access and local phone calls. You'll find LaPlaya – a member of the boutique Noble House family – along Vanderbilt Beach.

Sitting at the base of Teton Village's slopes, Hotel Terra Jackson Hole offers easy access to the region's most popular activities, including skiing, hiking and mountain biking. But there are several reasons why guests choose this hotel over other properties within the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort area. First, there are the spacious and bright guest rooms with green and blue accents, heated floors, gas fireplaces and flat-screen TVs. (Some guests remark that rooms here can cost a pretty penny, but most agree that the combination of in-house amenities and the dramatic mountain views validate the price.) Then there are the staff members, who win guests over with their friendly and helpful demeanors. And finally, there's Hotel Terra's eco-friendliness: The property earned its LEED-silver certification thanks to its efforts to save water and improve energy efficiency. Sustainable practices are used throughout the property, from the guest rooms to the Italian kitchen at the on-site Il Villaggio Osteria restaurant and from the infinity pool to the Chill Spa.

    Fort Lauderdale, FL
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 based on 4559 reviewsTripAdvisor (4559)
    Free WiFi
Located about a mile north of the Fort Lauderdale Beach strip along the Atlantic Ocean, the Pelican Grand Beach Resort has quietly removed itself from the cruise ship hubbub to craft a more peaceful, Victorian-esque ambiance. Amenities like the wraparound veranda – decked out with classic rocking chairs – and the old-fashioned ice cream parlor are hits with guests. This member of the Noble House hotel group gets high praise for its family-friendliness, too; the little ones are sure to love the lazy river, zero-entry pool and beach, as well as the Funky Fish Ocean Camp (charges apply). As for dining, head to OCEAN2000 for seafood and steaks with a side of ocean views. When it's time to bed down, rooms feature city or ocean vistas, minifridges, Keurig coffee makers and, in suites, furnished balconies. Ocean Key Resort & Spa, A Noble House Resort
    Key West, FL
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 based on 3120 reviewsTripAdvisor (3120)
    Free WiFi
A member of the swanky Noble House hotel group, this harborfront property adjacent to Mallory Square adheres to the old real estate adage about location, location, location. And guests report that the view from anywhere in this boutique resort is worth the splurge. In addition to postcard-worthy Key West, Florida, vistas, accommodations here feature wooden furnishings, green and blue decor, private balconies and whirlpool tubs. But don't plan on spending too much time in your room: The on-site SpaTerre boasts a long list of massages and skin treatments, while the outdoor pool makes a great place to catch some rays. If you have time, you should also dine on some of the seafood-focused comfort dishes in the resort's Hot Tin Roof Restaurant. Guests say the views made their experience but warn that the already pricey room rates increase when you factor in nightly parking charges and the $39 daily resort fee.

The Edgewater, A Noble House Hotel
    Seattle, WA
    0.5 miles to city center
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4 based on 4525 reviewsTripAdvisor (4525)
    Free WiFi
Seattle's only true waterfront hotel, The Edgewater balances on its own pier into the harbor, giving guests prime vistas of the Puget Sound. Of course, there's a catch: The waterfront rooms with balconies are smaller than those waterfront rooms without balconies. But trust us, the floor-to-ceiling sliding doors, the picturesque views through them and the claw-foot tubs in the bathrooms make up for the lack of floor space. Plus, recent travelers love the cozy, lodge-like feel of their rooms, especially the gas fireplaces. Recent guests do warn that walls are thin, though, and that some accommodations could use an update. Venture outside of your room and you'll find the waterfront Six Seven Restaurant, which serves up creative cuisine for three meals a day.

Frequent visitors are loyal to the Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa for a number of reasons. For some, it's the simple style of the furnishings and the hints of local culture found in each of the rooms (along with the availability of private fireplaces, full kitchens and whirlpool tubs). For others, it's the luxurious amenities like the expansive indoor and outdoor pools, the full-service SpaTerre and the tasty cuisine served at Spur, the lodge's recently remodeled dining establishment. But there's one thing that almost every guest agrees upon: The lodge's proximity to ski slopes and hiking trails (the hotel is located within the Jackson Hole Mountain complex) – not to mention its views of the Teton Mountains – make it a great home base for adventure.

    Redondo Beach, CA
    16.2 miles to city center
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4 based on 1999 reviewsTripAdvisor (1999)
The opulent Portofino Hotel & Marina has quite a following among Los Angeles travelers who like to dine well: BALEENkitchen restaurant is many guests' favorite part of the hotel thanks to its delicious contemporary American cuisine. The rooms don't disappoint, either, with flat-screen TVs, minibars, complimentary Internet access and balconies. And no matter which side of the hotel you end up on, you'll be able to see the water. However, travelers recommend requesting a room on a higher floor to avoid obstructed views. This Noble House property also has a pool and a collection of bikes available to borrow, and visitors can take advantage of the hotel's waterfront location with a day on the beach (or in a boat).
