Travelers were introduced to this brand back in 1937, when the first Sheraton hotel opened in Springfield, Massachusetts, and the Marriott-affiliated chain has been expanding ever since. Now a household name, Sheraton operates more than 440 hotels and resorts in 80-plus countries. The business- and family-friendly chain has acquired a loyal fan base thanks to guaranteed amenities like Paired, the food and wine pairing program available in the properties' lobbies or bars, and the Link@Sheraton, the brand's series of high-tech amenities like work stations and free Wi-Fi access. Meanwhile, families benefit from available babysitting services and child-friendly amenities, not to mention the Kids Stay Free program, which allows younger travelers a complimentary bed at any Sheraton hotel. What's more, members of the Marriott Rewards program can earn and redeem rewards points for free stays and other benefits at any Sheraton property. Sheraton hotels hold numerous spots on our Best Hotels in the USA, Best Hotels in Europe, Best Hotels in Mexico and Best Hotels in Canada rankings; the U.S. News-ranked properties are listed below.

Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina
    San Diego, CA
    4-star HOTEL CLASS
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 3.5 based on 4243 reviewsTripAdvisor (4243)
    Free WiFi

For proximity to San Diego International Airport, you won't get much closer than the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina. And considering the Sheraton's superb views of the bay, you might forget that this property is considered an "airport hotel." However, keep in mind that this Sheraton has two towers, the Marina Tower (attached to the main lobby) and the Bay Tower (which is accessible by shuttle or a 15-minute walk). Guest rooms in both sections of the hotel boast red, white and blue decor, Sheraton's signature Sweet Sleeper beds, flat-screen TVs and high-speed internet access as well as a few additional perks such as private balconies or patios. The hotel's location puts it relatively close to San Diego's popular attractions (though not close enough, according to some guests), but those who plan to stick around the property can make use of three swimming pools, the fitness center and the in-house Island Breeze Spa. And those who'd prefer to dine in will find six on-site restaurants and lounges to choose from. Because this hotel is part of the Marriott hotel family, Marriott Bonvoy members can earn and use points here.

Sheraton Mission Valley San Diego Hotel
    San Diego, CA
    4-star HOTEL CLASS
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 3.5 based on 910 reviewsTripAdvisor (910)
    Free WiFi

This Sheraton outpost is set in the San Diego suburb of Mission Valley, about 3 miles north of Balboa Park and 5 miles north of the Gaslamp Quarter. The hotel is home to an outdoor pool, a fitness center, a business center and ample meeting facilities, with more than 12,000 square feet of space, eight meeting rooms, audiovisual equipment and catering services. Cru Bistro, the on-site restaurant, dishes out American food with a contemporary twist (think: everything from Mexican-inspired small plates to burgers and sandwiches). A Starbucks is also available for espresso beverages and pastries. When it comes to accommodations, guest rooms include flat-panel LCD televisions, the brand's signature Sheraton beds and coffee makers. Recent guests praised the simple, clean room decor and affordable rates found at this hotel. However, many noted that noise from the nearby highway tended to seep into the rooms, while others lamented their accommodations' lack of electrical outlets. And because this hotel is part of the Marriott hotel family, Marriott Bonvoy members can earn and use points here.
