Most travelers visit the Yucatan Peninsula for its soft sands and turquoise beaches, but Hacienda Temozon presents another kind of Yucatan experience. Located inland in a converted hacienda about 28 miles south of Merida, this Luxury Collection hotel offers its guests a verdant, sub-tropical jungle to explore. Travelers can visit the nearby tourist destinations, like Uxmal ruins or Temozon Village, or stay on-site to luxuriate in the cave-like Hol Be Spa or lounge by the outdoor swimming pool. Each of the hotel's 28 guest rooms is named for its former purpose on the hacienda (Pharmacy, School or Pay-house, for example) and features tile floors, wooden cabinets, an 18-foot ceiling with exposed beams and a balcony. Room amenities include private plunge pools, woven cotton hammocks and 32-inch LCD TVs. Also on-site are a restaurant and a bar, which past guests commend for their delicious menu offerings and their romantic atmospheres. And because this hotel is part of the Marriott hotel family, both Starwood Preferred Guest members and Marriott Rewards members can earn and use points here.Temozon SurTripAdvisor (453)5.0-star Hotel ClassFree WiFi

Tailor-made for escapists, Hacienda Santa Rosa lies along the western coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, tucked between Merida and Campeche. This isn't the most convenient location for sightseers; however, the location allows for plenty of R&R. Guest rooms in this Luxury Collection retreat are housed in restored colonial buildings and feature 18-foot ceilings, double wooden doors and private terraces. But for most guests, Hacienda Santa Rosa's best features are found outside of its guest rooms. Travelers enjoy the feeling of seclusion created by the hotel's leafy surroundings, as well as the relaxing atmosphere around the outdoor pool. And should you require a little extra pampering, you can arrange for a private massage. Meanwhile, the on-site restaurant serves up a blend of international and regional cuisine. Some guests did express a little cabin fever while staying here (especially since Hacienda Santa Rosa only features one dining venue). Should you be itching to explore, you can arrange a tour of nearby cities or Mayan architectural sites through the concierge. And because this hotel is part of the Marriott hotel family, Marriott Bonvoy members can earn and use points here.Santa Rosa, MXTripAdvisor (212)5.0-star Hotel Class

Past guests of Hacienda Uayamon say that staying at this hotel transported them back in time. Nestled in the forest about 18 miles southeast of Campeche, Hacienda Uayamon occupies a former 18th-century hacienda, complete with vine-covered colonial façades and beautiful archways leading to private gardens. The villas and suites are more modern (yet no less stunning) with traditional Mayan-inspired decor, Egyptian cotton linens, minibars, 32-inch LCD TVs, complimentary wireless Internet access and private terraces or patios. During the day, you can book a massage at the spa, lounge by the outdoor pool (which is surrounded by chairs, hammocks and original hacienda walls) or arrange a day trip to nearby Mayan archaeological sites, Edzna (about 25 miles away) and Jaina Island (about 73 miles away). As for dining, the hotel features the Uayamon Restaurant, which dishes up European- and Mexican-inspired dishes. While some guests do lament the high menu prices, many say the romantic and secluded atmosphere and excellent service are well worth the cost. And because this hotel is part of the Marriott hotel family, Marriott Bonvoy members can earn and use points here.Uayamón, MXTripAdvisor (305)5.0-star Hotel Class
