This Waldorf Astoria is spread across six 17th-century Dutch palaces set along the Herengracht canal, one of the city's main thoroughfares that easily connects travelers to some of Amsterdam's top attractions, including the Van Gogh Museum, Vondelpark and Leidseplein. Rooms feature neutral but luxurious decor and plenty of amenities that left recent guests feeling spoiled. Bathroom televisions, feather bedding, in-room espresso machines, Salvatore Ferragamo toiletries, blackout curtains and complimentary high-speed internet come with every room, though canal views aren't guaranteed unless specifically requested. The hotel also boasts a swanky indoor pool, a spa, a private boat jetty and the largest private garden in the neighborhood, perfect for those looking to escape from the bustle. For dining, guests can choose from both fine and casual. Peacock Alley serves afternoon tea, Goldfinch Brasserie offers lunch, while Spectrum (formerly Librije Zusje) was recently opened by the hotel's two-Michelin-starred chef. Should you decide to eat off the property, your personal concierge (assigned to every guest) can easily point you in the right direction.

Carrying the Waldorf Astoria brand name, Rome Cavalieri lives up to expectations with its elegant accommodations and plentiful on-site amenities. Rooms here feature a warm golden and navy decor, work desks and marble bathrooms. Additionally, all rooms and suites feature private balconies, seating areas and views of the surrounding neighborhood or the city center. Outside of the property's accommodations, guests will find Rome's only three-star Michelin restaurant, La Pergola. Recent guests said their meals here were divine and highly recommend dinner at the rooftop restaurant one night. Rome Cavalieri also houses an additional restaurant and a few bars. Aside from eateries, the property features an extensive art collection, a top-notch spa, tennis courts and several pools. While recent travelers appreciated the amenities available, some were disappointed with the additional fees required at a hotel of this caliber. (Charges apply to use the pools and their lounge chairs, to access the spa and to play on the tennis courts.) You'll find this property nestled into a hilltop overlooking Rome, about 5 miles northwest of the city center; there is a seasonal shuttle that takes guests into town Monday through Saturday from April to October.

Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh - The Caledonian

TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 based on 4404 reviewsTripAdvisor (4404)

This centrally located Edinburgh hotel earns high marks for making guests feel at home, and travelers say this is largely attributed to the Waldorf's remarkable service. Numerous guests gave major kudos to the staff for their genuinely welcoming manner and super attentive attitudes. Not only that, but they're known to go the extra mile for special occasions. The Waldorf's comfy rooms were another attribute that made guests' experiences quite homey (all while maintaining the elegance Waldorf Astorias are known for). All accommodations have Nespresso coffee machines, flat-screen TVs, bathrobes and slippers, minibars and Salvatore Ferragamo bath products. If it’s in your budget, lodgers highly recommend booking a room facing the castle. In addition to luxurious in-room amenities, the hotel features a gym, spa and childrens menus at the restaurants. The hotel has two restaurants – The Pompadour by Galvin offers fine dining and Galvin Brasserie De Luxe is slightly more casual – and The Caley Bar offers a variety of cocktails. Travelers recommend getting breakfast or afternoon tea at the Peacock Alley lounge, though others wished the hotel had a pool. There is also plenty to explore within walking distance of the hotel – including Edinburgh’s biggest landmark, the Edinburgh Castle – but it's also just a short stroll away from Princes Street, a thoroughfare flush with shopping, dining and nightlife options.
