According to recent guests, the best part about staying in the downtown Wedgewood Hotel & Spa –which is just steps away from Robson Street's high-end shops – is the impeccable service. Visitors also gush over the well-appointed rooms, which are outfitted with complimentary Wi-Fi access, flat-screen TVs, Nespresso coffee machines and more. The spacious bathrooms, which boast Frette towels, marble accents deep-soaking tubs and L'Occitane toiletries, also receive a nod of approval from guests. Fogo Island Inn
    Joe Batt's Arm
    5-star HOTEL CLASS
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 5 based on 456 reviewsTripAdvisor (456)
    Free Parking

Fogo Island Inn isn't your average hotel. The inn, which is held up by stilts so as not to damage the rocky topography it sits on, features a contemporary, almost futuristic architectural design that seems at odds with the centuries-old fishing village it occupies. Because of the inn's remote location on Fogo Island (situated off the northeast coast of Newfoundland, Canada), the property cultivates a familial, intimate atmosphere that recent guests loved. You won't find much in the surrounding area, but the inn provides all the unique amenities you could need for a relaxing, secluded getaway. In addition to a fitness center, the Fogo Island Inn offers a rooftop deck with wood-fired saunas and two outdoor hot tubs, a 37-seat theater, a small art gallery, a library, a lounge and bar and a restaurant with vaulted ceilings and dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows. Aside from the amenities, it was the inn's 29 suites that really impressed visitors, who called a stay at the property a "once-in-a-lifetime" experience. Rooms are outfitted with floor-to-ceiling windows (perfect for admiring the ocean views), natural wood floors with in-floor heating, heated towel racks and heated toilet seats with a built-in bidet, among other amenities. The only gripe among lodgers? A stay here does not come cheap.

Nestled in Québec City's Old Port, the Auberge Saint-Antoine complements the quaint Petit-Champlain district with elegant decor featuring European artifacts and modern accents. For many travelers, a clean, comfortable room is all that's required for a relaxing stay. The hotel features 131 spacious suites, each of which is appointed with a bedroom and separate living area, and comes furnished with rain showers or deep soaking tubs, LCD TVs, kitchenettes and free Wi-Fi access. But according to many guests, the best part about Hôtel Le Crystal's rooms is the view; travelers recommend reserving accommodations on a higher floor for better vistas and less noise. Although the property is surrounded by a wide variety of eateries, guests recommend dining at the on-site restaurant, Siam Centre-ville, which serves Thai cuisine. Hôtel Le Crystal also offers access to a spa, a fitness center, a hot tub and an indoor saltwater pool.

A winner of three Green Keys from Canada’s environmental evaluation program, Hotel de l'ITHQ is an environmentally friendly hotel that's in the heart of Montreal's Quartier des Spectacles. Renovated in 2010, the hotel added eco-friendly paint, Energy Star TVs and minifridges, recycled fiber carpets and curtains, and locally made furniture to all of its guest rooms. It is also only a few blocks from the Ville Marie borough in Old Montreal and is within walking distance of the city's main attractions, including restaurants and the expansive Parc du Mont-Royal. The on-site restaurant is actually a cooking school, and recent guests were thrilled with the food quality and the professional wait staff, noting you wouldn't know it was a school based on the quality of both. The modern guest rooms include minifridges, flat-screen TVs and Nespresso coffee makers, and many boast hardwood floors and balconies with views of downtown. Recent guests also loved the hotel's comfortable beds, the personalized and friendly service, and the hearty breakfasts included in the room rate.

Occupying a romantic 1930s Tudor mansion, Abigail's Hotel is an intimate, 23-room property ideal for couples (no children younger than 13 are allowed). Reflecting the charm that pervades Victoria, rooms are appointed with seasonal flowers, fresh cookies, iPod docking stations, free Wi-Fi access and, in the premiere Sapphire rooms, a wood-burning fireplace and antique chandeliers. While Abigail's doesn't have its own on-site restaurant, recent visitors say the complimentary three-course breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres make up for the absence of midday and evening meal service. But if you're hankering for something more substantial, downtown Victoria's restaurants and quaint shops sit just a mile northwest of the hotel. Recent guests say a leisurely stroll by Victoria's Inner Harbour makes for a relaxing evening. Though they rave about the hotel's location and charming atmosphere, previous guests say the staff's attention to detail shines above all else.
