    Kimpton Solamar San Diego
    San Diego, CA
    2.3 miles to city center
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 based on 2286 reviewsTripAdvisor (2286)
Marketed to hip business travelers, the Kimpton Solamar San Diego in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter is just three blocks from the convention center and a block from Petco Park. The property's convenient location makes it an excellent home base for working guests and sightseers alike. Travelers like the look and feel of the Hotel Solamar, where guest rooms are adorned with dark mahogany furniture, funky patterned accent pieces and amenities such as flat-screen TVs and Atelier Bloem bath products. (Plus, members of the IHG Rewards Club can receive perks here, such as $10 credit to the minibar or free Wi-Fi access.) The 235-room hotel also wins points from the pooches – they get to sleep in designer beds just like their pets, ahem owners. Human guests were also pleased with the property's rooftop sun deck and pool, accommodating staff and seafood-centric restaurant, Jsix.

    The Westgate Hotel
    San Diego, CA
    2.5 miles to city center
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 based on 1087 reviewsTripAdvisor (1087)
    Free WiFi
The Westgate Hotel in downtown San Diego has all the fixings of a royal mansion: antique furnishings, Persian carpets, gold fixtures — the works. Modeled after the Palace of Versailles in France, this 223-room boutique hotel offers guests an experience unlike that offered at the city's more contemporary hotels. Many guests found the Old World interiors of the hotel to be simply beautiful but don't let the decor fool you, the place comes outfitted with necessary modern amenities. All accommodations at the Westgate Hotel feature 49-inch LCD televisions, internet access and step-out balconies. The property also features a large rooftop pool, as well as the acclaimed Westgate Room restaurant. Previous diners are quick to praise the fine Westgate Room's dishes, though some say the atmosphere felt a little stuffy (not to mention expensive).

    Kimpton Hotel Palomar San Diego
    San Diego, CA
    2.3 miles to city center
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4 based on 1440 reviewsTripAdvisor (1440)
Like most Kimpton brand properties, the Hotel Palomar San Diego offers guests a stylish retreat in a convenient location. Situated in downtown San Diego, the Hotel Palomar is described by recent visitors as classy and cool. Accommodations here feature Italian Frette linens and a muted yet elegant color palette. Rooms also include high-speed internet access (which IHG Rewards Club members can use for free), ETRO bath products and plasma TVs. When they're not out enjoying the bustling nightlife in the Gaslamp Quarter, Hotel Palomar visitors can take advantage of the hotel's on-site spa or relax by the outdoor pool. And though numerous eateries sit within walking distance of the hotel, previous guests strongly recommend savoring the tacos and margaritas at in-house Mexican spot Curadero.

    Andaz San Diego
    San Diego, CA
    2.3 miles to city center
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4 based on 1803 reviewsTripAdvisor (1803)
    Free WiFi
This Gaslamp Quarter hotel gets praise for its trendy ambiance – guest rooms and common areas feature stylized furnishings and contemporary artwork, and the general atmosphere of the hotel says "swanky." With that said, some recent travelers say the Andaz San Diego is more about partying than about relaxing. Guests warn against a weekend stay – Thursday through Saturday evenings, the Andaz's lounge, the Rooftop by STK, is swallowed by loud music and mingling social butterflies. Not to mention the neighborhood is fairly noisy. But during the rest of the week, travelers say a stay here isn't half bad. The comfortable guest rooms provide complimentary snacks and cable TV (plus earplugs for those sensitive to noise), and the on-site pool earns high praise. What's more, because of the hotel's Hyatt ties, rewards program members can earn or use points while bedding down at this Andaz property.

    TOWER23 Hotel
    San Diego, CA
    9.7 miles to city center
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4.5 based on 1280 reviewsTripAdvisor (1280)
    Free WiFi

TOWER23, named after a lifeguard tower, caters to the surfing crowd. And as you might've guessed, it's right on the shore of San Diego's Pacific Beach neighborhood. Although many guests enjoy spending time outside of the hotel, TOWER23 also offers amenities to keep them occupied inside, including Egyptian cotton sheets, flat-screen TVs, in-room spa treatments, and the spacious second-floor sun deck with drink service. Plus, there's the JRDN restaurant, which serves contemporary spins on popular steak and seafood dishes. Previous visitors praise TOWER23's trendy decor and elegant ambiance. Despite its location along Pacific Beach Park, some guests lamented the absence of an on-site pool.

    The Keating Hotel
    San Diego, CA
    2.4 miles to city center
TripAdvisor Traveler Rating 4 based on 855 reviewsTripAdvisor (855)
    Free WiFi
Most guests praise The Keating for its trendy atmosphere and its prime location in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter. Visitors are also fond of the guest room decor, which showcases red and blue hues with exposed brick walls (in some suites) and contemporary furnishings. Some of The Keating's more unique amenities include LaVazza espresso machines, Egyptian cotton sheets, mood lighting and walk-in rain showers. The hotel also offers a number of tailored stay packages, such as the romantic Amore Mio package, or the spa-tastic Dolce Vita (think: bottle of champagne before or after treatments). However, visitors say that the hotel falls short in a few key ways: Some report an icy reception from hotel employees, and many complain of street noise disturbing a peaceful night's sleep.
