One of the biggest draws of this boutique hotel is its central Knoxville, Tennessee, location. The Tennessean is situated just north of the Sunsphere observation tower and the Knoxville Convention Center, making it a convenient option for both leisure and business travelers. But guests say the hotel's friendly staff and comfortable, well-equipped rooms are just as impressive. All rooms and suites have neutral color palettes with blue and gray patterned carpets, accent chairs and window treatments, plus wooden furnishings and regional map artwork. Illy coffee makers, Cuby radios and flat-screen TVs also come standard, while the 1,646-square-foot Governor's Suite features extra perks like a gas fireplace, a baby grand piano, hardwood floors and floor-to-ceiling windows. Other on-site amenities include a 24-hour business center, a fitness center, an executive boardroom and The Drawing Room. This West End hotel is one of the only truly modern and chic ones in Nashville. And its cool contemporary design keeps the environment in mind, with reclaimed wood furnishings, light sensors and even a Tesla to shuttle guests around town. Travelers were surprised upon arriving at the Hutton: Though the exterior has an industrial look about it, the hotel lobby and guest rooms are decorated with contemporary art and neutral decor with pops of bright color. Guest room interiors also feature refreshment centers, plush robes and granite bathrooms with rainfall showerheads. Guests also enjoy the Hutton's location, within walking distance of Vanderbilt University and all the shops, bars and restaurants that cater to the collegiate crowd, but some recent guests do warn that the noise level can be too loud for some.

Recent guests have said the staff's friendliness and attention to detail made them feel welcome and comfortable. And the rooms help capture that cozy vibe too; accommodations feature 32-inch flat-screen TVs, free wireless internet access and come with complimentary breakfast. The location, on Mud Island, is popular among visitors who can enjoy waterside rooms with views of the Mississippi River. If you don't happen to score a waterside room, guests recommend heading to the rooftop terrace, which overlooks the river and also offers views of the downtown Memphis skyline. Guests can enjoy food and drinks on the terrace or head to one of the hotel's other eateries, such as the laid-back Tug's – A Casual Grill or fine dining option Paulette's. Welcoming guests since 1884, this historic 51-room inn is located in northeast Tennessee near Cherokee National Forest. The historic architecture and traditional decor carry over from the lobby to the guest rooms, all of which come with Bath & Body Works toiletries and Wolfgang Puck coffee, and some of which offer minifridges and microwaves. If you feel like experiencing a seasonal Southern menu, Brumley's Restaurant, named after the family who owned and operated the inn during the early 20th century, serves three meals a day. Although recent visitors found the history of the General Morgan Inn charming, they credit the Southern hospitality of the front desk staff and the modern amenities like free Wi-Fi throughout the property as reasons for a return visit. Some recent patrons do warn that the old building lets noise into rooms, so ask for a room on an upper floor to ensure the quietest night's sleep.

Travelers say the staff at this property is also friendly and eager to please.
