at the 1842 Inn
A Great Treat

They have two buildings on the property. We stayed in the back building which is a 1900 home moved to the site. Our room was well furnished and included an antique armoire. They serve a good breakfast ( you pick the item the day before ) in the parlor of the main house. The staff is friendly and bends over backward to help with whatever you need. The location is on College avenue where many restored restored antebellum mansions exist. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Found it here on TripAdvisor, booked it in advance and arrived in the early evening. We were warmly greeted by their night staff person, who showed us to our room and directed us to a great local restaurant. Book it! We stayed in the suite named after one of the founders of the local college, Mercer. Well worth it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We checked in late in the afternoon and the lady who greeted us and showed us to our rooms was true southern hospitality in every way! She ushered us around the property and made us feel so welcome! The rooms were beautiful and very historic ( I was impressed by the photos of those who have also stayed there-Cher, Oprah, etc.-that's good in my book!) and the lovely authentic antiques. The rooms were very clean (sometimes I dread bed and breakfasts worried about mold) and the mattress was so comfortable. The appetizers before dinner were great (warm cheese straws) and the breakfast was incredible-so decadent! I would definitely stay there again! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We were lucky to stay at this beautiful inn while visiting our granddaughter at Mercer University. Our room was large and comfortable and the breakfast and afternoon goodies delicious. What really stood out was the staff. They were attentive, accommodating, and friendly. They did all the could to make our stay memorable. When visiting again, we will certainly return to the 1842 Inn. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Don't make them like this any more.

Was reluctant as I have had some b&b experiences that drove me to box hotels. But from service to room this gave my stay something I have not had in a long time, a sense of something extra. My new home in Macon. Hats of to 1842. You made this cynic a fan and excited to return. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
