Be Aware - 8/7/2019 Union Strikers, Striking in front of hotel 11 pm thru 3 am.

Aug 11th, 2019

What the front desk won't tell you, but once you check in and get to your room you will find a hotel management letter letting you know about Cambria's Union Negotiations that were agreed upon. However, housekeeping is still striking. We were awakened by loud voices between at 11:00 p.m. and continued until 3:00 a.m. Our room was located at the front of the hotel. We were on the 7th floor directly above the entrance. The letter will tell you what you need to do if the noise bothers you. My Advice, book another hotel in the area, there are plenty. Or, Ask before you book. Otherwise the Hotel is in an excellent location, room and hotel is very clean. Steps to shopping, Northwestern Campus, Resturants. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great location, Ok property

Aug 7th, 2019

Lobby is beautiful and newly renovated. Elevators are efficient and rarely require a wait of more than 1 min. Rooms are dated, with an odd mix of new and old furnishings that don't quite work together. We were in a king suite that had a large couch and a mini fridge. The TV was large and could be swiveled to be seen by the couch or the bed, but didn't allow any external connections so we were unable to watch netflix or youtube on it. The bathroom is extremely small vs the rest of the room. Even with two people, it was crowded. You can also very clearly hear others in adjacent rooms and in the hall. Breakfast is available on site but even with the Expedia VIP $10 off coupon, it wasn't worth it. Selection was limited - toast, scrambled eggs, bacon/sausage, pancakes were available but the quality was very low. Staff was very rude to us - we were accused of not paying immediately after we left the cash register with our vouchers for breakfast in our hands. We produced proof of payment and were still treated like we were doing something wrong. Housekeeping was on strike, but the picketers weren't a huge nuisance. Housekeeping (likely due to the strike) was mediocre - we went three days before they replenished the bar soap and toilet paper. We had to leave a note requesting that they do so. Overall we would stay again if the price was right simply given the location; but not a place I'd go out of my way to recommend. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great location with large rooms

Aug 5th, 2019

This location is excellent if you are a family looking to see the sights or for anyone looking to shop the Mag Mile. It was priced $50 lower than the other hotels I was looking at and the room was spacious with a seating area separate from the bed - a nice layout for a family of 4. It lost a star for not having a bathtub, which reminds me that I really wish trip advisor would let you do 1/2 stars. I used Spot Hero for a very reasonable overnight garage parking spot in the Northwestern Hospital garage which is right across the street from the hotel. No in and out, but you can get to your car if you need to. Saved $25 compared to overnight parking through the hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Top notch

Jul 24th, 2019

Came in earlier than expected. Hector was able to help us with a room that was top notch. My fiancé and I will definitely book again soon. Looking forward to our next stay. If we end up stay two nights. Hopefully we can get a good deal. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Roomy clean well located and affordable

Jul 21st, 2019

This well located Cambria hotel building used to be an apartment building. So the rooms are larger than one would typically expect and include a pull out sofa The hotel has a nice workout room. This seems ideal for the business traveler and families as well Late check out is limited to 12:30 without a fee TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
