The area generally lacks tourist attractions (save for the Empire State Building) but it's conveniently poised between the Midtown business district and all that downtown Manhattan has to offer.

The Shelburne sits among residential (and slowly gentrifying) Murray Hill in the south part of Midtown East Manhattan. If you're looking for a luxury hotel near the action but in a sleepier part of town, the Shelburne is a solid bet: It’s just less than a mile south of Times Square.
