Most hospitable and Best vibes!!!

Jul 15th, 2019

This place was by far the most relaxing and chill hotel. My friends and I stayed at the Nomade and checked out early because of the horrible service and crappy staff. We found Ahau and stayed here the remainder of the trip and had the best time ever. It’s located centrally, the best restaurants and bars are all close by, and the beach is clean! All vibes, staff, drinks, and food are all amazing here. My girlfriends couldn’t have made this Bachelorette weekend more perfect, and Ahau made it so easy for us to relax and have fun! They even hooked up beautiful flowers, chocolate covered strawberries, and champagne sent to the room upon arrival. And it was also easy to text for room service, towels, cleaning, etc. I felt so special here and can’t wait to come back!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Just loved it thats all ! And My son wants to live in your hotel for the rest of his life

Jul 9th, 2019

I just recently stayed at Ahau ! it was an amazing experience, everything about it made me want to return, the rooms, the settings, the quality of the food and service but most importantly the staff, couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating, from the front desk to the restaurant/beach staff and everyone else involved. This is the true Tulum experience you have always heard and read about, Brava ! big shout out to Arturo the GM, The entire front desk staff, Fernanda, Javier et al and the entire wait & restaurant staff, Greko, Martin, David, Chris, Rafa, Valerio and the rest of the team, i know im missing some names but all of you collectively are the best ! Things I wish I knew before I booked

Jun 30th, 2019

Pros: The sand is beautiful, and the paths around the hotel are sand, with foot baths at the entrance to each room. There is complimentary coffee/tea/juice + a small bite to eat each morning - you just WhatsApp when you’re ready. Ecofriendly, which is great but means you can’t flush toilet paper - it goes in a bin (not fun when you forget and have to fish it out). Filtered water in rooms. Mattress and pillow are comfy, but bed moves a lot so we woke each other up frequently. Free parking, and bicycles for hire for about MXN200 per day (I thought for around MXN7000 a night they could throw in use of the bicycles). Room safes are large enough for a laptop or two. There is complimentary wifi, though it does drop in and out. Cons: Be aware that seaweed has taken over the beach and sea up and down Tulum, which means the beach is closed, and you wouldn’t want to go in anyway. I don’t think this is a short term issue, either. You can lie on the beach lounges, but it’s not pretty to look at. And there is no pool. It is very hot and humid, but being eco friendly the A/C is only turned on between 7pm and 9am, and the humidity seeps in pretty quickly through numerous gaps in the louvred windows once it is turned off. There is no bar fridge to keep personal drinks in. Our ocean view room backed on to the Raw Love Cafe, which meant we heard the blender all day. We frequently heard thumping music from a neighbouring property late into the night, and this was apparently the low season. The property is rustic (read aging and not well finished). Pro or Con (depending upon your opinion): There are cats and dogs who seem to live at the property. They are very sweet natured and well behaved, and I quite liked patting them, but they do seem to be tamed street animals. All in all, I felt it was overpriced - plus the obligatory tipping of all staff you come into contact with; security/parking attendant, housekeeping, etc. Tips are automatically added to any order from the restaurant/room service. When you come from a country where beautiful beaches are a dime a dozen, if you’re looking for a beachside holiday, you could get more bang for your buck closer to home (Fiji or Bali). We chose Ahau because it wasn’t ridiculously priced as most accommodation seemed to be, but it was still pretty expensive for what it is, as is everything in Tulum. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful Experience

Jun 27th, 2019

I stayed at Ahau during a solo trip and had a great time. My room was on the second floor by the restaurant area and was absolutely beautiful. There was a patio that had a view of the beach, which let in an amazing breeze every day. AC available to use from 7pm-9am. The food was good. I had salmon skewers one evening that were a little undercooked for my liking, but on the final day, my waiter/the chef accommodated my request for grilled fish tacos (I can’t eat gluten) and prepared fresh corn tortillas for me to ensure no gluten was present, which was extremely kind. The beach is beautiful- a lot of seaweed, but staff work daily to remove as much as possible. There are many shops, restaurants along the road, as well as bike rental shops, gelato stores, etc. Things to be aware of: this is a pet-friendly resort (as noted) and pets are present. The 2 “resort” dogs were mild mannered; other people had brought dogs as well. Wasn’t a huge issue, but there was barking outside my window at night. I’m not a huge fan of unknown dogs, so this is something I’d want to be informed of. Music does play until around midnight in the restaurant- an FYI if you’re trying to go to sleep early. With all of that said, I truly enjoyed my time there, the staff was very kind, and I would definitely return to stay at Ahau again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Rustic Luxury on the Beach

Jun 12th, 2019

Bohemian style eco friendly hotel. It has a rustic feel but also has all the amenities you need. The rooms were really beautiful and ocean views were even better. The staff was friendly and accomodating. You're truly staying right on the beach. The ocean is only steps away. We even got to see a huge sea turtle one night! Also the drinks and food were delicious. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
