BEWARE!! Six months ago, we booked a condo after extensive searching for what we believed would be a favorable location and facility for a one month stay for a youthful retired couple. Five days before leaving home to come to Playa de Carmen, Playa Moments contacted us and informed us that the condo we had rented was sold. They informed us that we would be moved to a different location, Aldea Thai, as an upgrade (free of charge). Upon arriving, the first condo was on the ground floor with a private pool and a scenic view of the 50-foot back wall of the Grand Hyatt. Total daily full sun exposure of about 3 hours. After initially moving in we contacted Playa Moments to let them know the condo was not acceptable. They then showed us the condo we eventually moved into (a day later) which location wise was acceptable. The only category this location (Aldea Thai) fits into as an upgrade from where we originally booked is that it is close to Mamitas Beach. Aldea Thai Noisy, they have no control over music, singing etc. until 12AM. On several occasions during the day the music was so loud we had to shut all the doors and turn on the AC to be able to read a book. Front desk ineffective no help whatsoever. In our condo the furniture was old and outdated and dirty, limited dishes, no oven, not equipped for a 30 day or more stay. Uncomfortable beds, mattress only mounted on boards. Showers old and overhead only that spew water in different directions. It was obvious that the owner is only interested in ROI not maintaining or upgrading. It is also for sale. Beautiful pool with a swim up bar that was never opened and partially dismantled. Probably not used in years. Wrist bands are required for all including guests. If they are not returned upon leaving, they charge 200 pesos each for a piece of plastic. If you are looking for a QUIET place to relax and enjoy Playa de Carmen, this is not the place. Outstanding Condo's. Clean, responsive service and great location. We'll be back next year. We really enjoyed the rooftop pool and the location to nightlife made this location convenient. Front desk service was great. Wish the swim up pool bar would have been open during our stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We loved our condo here! We had a 2 bedroom condo with a Ocean view. The location is perfect for Mamitas beach club and all the action on 5th. We had a daily maid service, which was nice too! Plenty of towels, great staff too. The pool is very cool with 4 different levels! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

This property is an amazing location as its a very short walk to the beach and close to convenience stores for anything you forget from Walmart. More beer anyone!?!? Overall we had a solid stay and were impressed with the visual appearance and beauty of the property particularly our view from the rooftop pool included with our penthouse suite. The main pool was gorgeous and a perfect temperature and always clean. Any staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful. Any of the payment issues and complaints I have now read about, never happened to us and I have a feeling this might have more to do with lack of knowledge on the consumer side of a reservation and failing to read fine print on booking terms (for example I was well aware of the deposit we had to pay upon arrival on top of our pre paid reservation cost that lots of people are complaining about as it was written right in our booking confirmation from Expedia) So if you are an informed consumer and read your booking terms and conditions you should not experience this either. We had zero issue and our deposit was refunded back to the cc provided within 24 hours of us checking out. The suite was very clean when we arrived and front desk was as you would expect any front desk to be. Any maintenance issues that we did have while on the property (our rooftop pool pump stopped working on day 3 and the internet crashed on day 4) were handled quickly by contacting our host via Whatsapp and they arranged the appropriate maintenance. Overall we had a solid 4 experience and I would definitely stay again given that I now know what to expect and the extras to bring to make my stay more comfortable. What could have turned our stay into a perfect 5 would be the following: - host to provide kitchen supplies on arrival such as paper towels, kitchen towels, dish soap, hand soap etc. Considering what you are paying to stay here....these items are inexpensive to provide for guests and would make a huge difference in the guest experience. This was a very inconvenient discovery at 830 PM on our first night. - fresh towels provided daily. The towels and linens are only refreshed every 3 days so during a one week stay we had new towels provided only on the 3rd and 6th day. This is not enough when you are in and out of the pool and on and off the beach. Even a towel exchange booth where you could bring your used towel and exchange it for a fresh one anytime would be a better experience than hanging onto a wet, sandy towel for 3 days. - a broom and dust pan in the suite for sweeping the kitchen and common areas of sand etc. After 3 days of no service there is a lot that accumulates with 4 people. - front desk to make sure the room keys are coded properly. Ours did not work on arrival and the agent had to escort us to the room (after we had walked all the way to our 3rd floor room with a weeks worth of luggage and then had to walk all the way back to the desk) and then we waited two days for the correct room keys from the host. Great place to get your money scammed

If you are ready to get ripped off, then book with Aldea Thi: First, I booked for 3 days paying $750 last spring. I waited 24 hours and never got a confirmation from them, so I tried booking again and instantly got 2 confirmations as they charged my credit card twice. I tried to get my money back on one of the double bookings and they refused to refund. I got to the hotel a few weeks later and they still refused to refund my money even though the dates of the booking were the exact same. They said I have up to one year to use my credit. I ended up booking for only 2 nights at the original $750 6 months later when I was going back to Playa. Paying $375/night. I arrived in Playa last week and I contacted them multiple times over the last week for a confirmation code on my confirmed reservation. I eventually had to arrive to see if they had a room for me. Yes, they did, I spent 2 nights this last weekend. The A/C didn’t work in the guest room, and they never did come fix it even after multiple calls. The room was supposed to be setup for 6 people as this is how many we had, and they gave us 4 towels. There is no drinking water available except at Oxxo. No coffee in rooms, and the list goes on and on. Their service here stinks, and the fact that they would not give me my money back equates to the biggest scam I have experienced in about 20 trips to Playa. Never will I stay here or recommend this place. They are crooks. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
