Great food, poor communication

Mar 17th, 2020

Alderbrook Resort & Spa Union I tried to call before I made a reservation online because I had a question about a package. The front desk could not answer it and they have one guy to book and was told he was out sick for the day. I was transferred to someone who may be able to answer my question who never got back to me. I ended up calling the spa as the question sort of pertained to them, they couldn't answer for sure. I ended up booking the room and then made a spa inquiry to book services. I got a call back and booked services. I asked for an email confirmation to confirm and never got it. I didn't think this could go well but I had faith because I know a lot of people who give this place rave reviews. I showed up to my spa service for the day, about an hour or two before check in to find out they accidentally didn't book my husband too. We ended up getting a later spa appt about an hour or so later so we went upstairs to see if we could check in early and while we waited for our room we played games in the Commons. It was fun, they had tea out but the hot water was out one squirt into my cup, let them know and after not getting it filled after I finished my game of chess I went to the restaurant for hot water. Got to my room, great views, lovely tub, bed was in poor shape, torn and stained sheets and hard as a rock but nice pillows. After my spa wrap I sat and relaxed before they closed. I looked at a brochure and found they have spa amenities you can use before your sevcies, such as saltwater pool, sauna, etc. Thought it would have been nice if it had been offered to us while we waited for our botched reservation. Our dinner and breakfast were phenomenal along with the view. It was all very peaceful there and that was the saving grace. They have some water sports and apparently great massages but didn't get to try them out because they got cancelled the next day because they had to temporarily shut down. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I don’t want to leave!

Mar 8th, 2020

I’m writing this from a comfy pillowed window seat in room 323 overlooking the calming waters of Hood Canal... and I don’t want to go home! I left behind “Mom, I have a question.” ... and “Anyone seen the car keys?.. and “Feed the cat our I won’t feed you!””... and I don’t want to go home! Not looking forward to fighting my way to work tomorrow... and juggling phone-answering with responding to a weekends worth of oh-so-important emails... No! I want to stay put right here in my light-and-bright room at Alderbrook... wander down to the dining room for a tasty dinner treat at 6 or so (there’s no rush!) ... then put on my Patagonia jacket and go sit by the crackling waterfront fire lit by the attentive staff here every night... just for rechargers like me! So you can see why... I don’t want to go home! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Girls rule!!!

My daughter and I had a wonderful getaway to Alderbrook and so enjoyed the amazing renew package at the spa!!! Oh, and it is beautiful, the water was like glass and so quiet. Hurry and make your reservations while it's still calm, bet it's business in the summer. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fantastic Setting for a 3 Day Conference

Feb 19th, 2020

We recently hosted a 3 day conference at the Alderbrook Resort and I could not have been happier with the staff, setting, meeting rooms and food. Since the resort is remote, I was concerned that being there for 3 days, especially in February, would feel tedious and isolated - but it was fantastic. The location was picturesque. You could see the water and the trees from the spacious, comfortable rooms, there were hiking trails across the street, and plenty to explore. We went to Union Market for one dinner, but otherwise stayed at the resort - the food and space did not ever get monotonous! Also, a shout out to our event coordinator at the resort Emma. She really cared about all of the details and made sure we left happy. The whole staff really went above and beyond, thank you! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

My favorite family escape

Feb 8th, 2020

We love alderbrook for the pool, the restaurant, and the beautiful scenery. It is family friendly and always clean. We love the outdoor trails and water sports in the summer. We usually stay at alderbrook in the winter and in the summer . TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
