Back Again - Excellent As Always

Nov 29th, 2019

We just returned to this property for a quick trip and it once again, proved excellent. Fantastic location (especially if transiting Phoenix SkyHarbor Airport,) this property has been -- and continues to be -- consistently great - always clean, convenient and a really good value. As a Marriott Ambassador Level Traveler, I've stayed at more than my fair share of Marriott/SPG properties (>75 per year) over the past decade. Whether it's a Ritz Carlton or a Courtyard, what ultimately makes the most difference at any property always begins and ends with the staff. We had a chance to meet one of the Aloft managers during this trip -- Andrew Gaylord -- and to say that he is the personification of what a terrific brand ambassador should be, would be an understatement. Genuinely thoughtful, bright, kind and innately driven to be helpful, Andrew was wearing multiple hats during our stay this Thanksgiving season and as a result, he happened to serve as our shuttle driver to/from the airport. Spend two minutes with Andrew and it will be clear to anyone that this guy genuinely loves and is proud of his job, the property, the Aloft and Marriott Brands -- and as a result, is super focused on making sure that his guests are all doing well and have everything they need during their visit. Our interactions with Andrew literally made our stay; Andrew was particularly welcoming and kind to our son who had just arrived home on military leave from the Navy. We will back for sure and could not recommend Andrew and the Aloft Phoenix Airport more highly! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Loud and Bad. "Free Shuttle" a joke.

Nov 26th, 2019

I stay at a lot of Hotels. This one was particularly bad. They tout their "free shuttle" We arrived at 4pm. We asked for a 5:30am shuttle to the airport. "I'm sorry, that shuttle is already booked" said the desk clerk. "You can take the 6am shuttle and risk missing your flight or you can take the 5am shuttle". Ok, 5am it was. Soooo, we requested a 4:30am wake up call. The wake up call came in at 4:09am. 21 minutes may not sound like a lot of time, but at the 4am hour, it is HUGE. The windows and walls on this property are like tissue paper. For an airport hotel, one would expect the property to be somewhat sound proof. We heard EVERY plane that took off from the airport (which is A LOT). We not only heard, but we "experienced" the takeoff from our room. I could swear you could hear the pre-flight briefing given by the flight attendants. To make matters worse, this hotel sits on a busy street with a light rail line right below its lobby. The constant traffic and the loud, dinging bells of the light rail train every 20 minutes were very annoying and interfered with sleep. I ordered a beer at the lobby bar. The bartender was surly and rude. The hotel really touts the "free shuttle". They said it will take you anywhere within a 3 mile radius of the hotel. We booked a shuttle to take us to a local restaurant. What they didn't tell you was that you were bottom priority for a return trip. After waiting 20 minutes for the shuttle after calling for a pick up, I called the hotel. The person at the hotel told me that "it would be at least (at least) another 20 minutes before the hotel could even leave the hotel because it was busy on airport runs". We ended up taking an Uber. Do not rely on the "free shuttle" to take you anywhere unless you have unlimited time. I was very disappointed by this Marriott property. I would suggest avoiding it and going to another property nearby. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Clean & convenient

Nov 19th, 2019

A funky hotel in a great location at a reasonable price for travel thru Sky harbour airport. A block from the sky train. Clean, friendly staff and comfy beds. The air conditioner was quite loud though even on low, some of us were light sleepers so that wasn't great. (you can't turn off as the room gets hot and stuffy pretty quick) . I don't recommend for anyone who wants a bit of privacy in the bathroom as there are no doors on the bathroom at all and it is the first thing you see when you walk in the door to the room as well. FYI, it has a pool but it is REALLY tiny, strictly for standing in to cool off for a bit TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent Service

Nov 16th, 2019

The Aloft team at this hotel is amazing. They do an excellent job and remain one of my favorites when in Phoenix. I usually have difficulty with the irons in every hotel I stay in and I never have that problem at Aloft. The ladies at the front desk were excellent and make menu breakfast to order every morning. Pool is also refreshing being so close to the airport. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Convenience, comfort, and easy transit!

Nov 13th, 2019

I needed to attend a meeting in downtown Phoenix at the last minute and the downtown hotels were crazy expensive. Th A-Loft proved to be an absolute gem! It was super convenient from the airport by train and super convenient to downtown via the train. Super location and convenience! The room was great, comfy, and a local beer at the bar was only $6. It is a great place to stay! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
