Great visit for our family

We stayed at Aloft Short Pump over Christmas while visiting family nearby. While the rooms were small, the beds were very comfortable and the room was appointed with everything that we needed for our stay (2 adults, 2 small children and our family dog). We felt very safe with the COVID precautions the hotel was following. The staff went above and beyond, making sure we had enough towels, coffees, trash bags, etc. during our stay and it was easy to request and pick up items at the front desk as well. The location was fabulous- walking distance to tons of shops and restaurants and a few parks nearby as well too. Our only complaint was the smokers who smoked right outside the first floor entry doors. Would definitely stay here again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Sad to see this hotel go downhill

We have stayed at the Aloft in Short Pump several times visiting family and the location is great and the hotel has always been clean and nice. This year the room did not feel clean when we came in, the shampoo dispenser was off the wall and we only had one small bar of soap. A loud air conditioner was mounted over the tv that we could not control. There was no cleaning service the first day, we put out the please service the second day and still no service. The front desk staff was pleasant but we will be looking for a new hotel next time we visit Richmond. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Stay somewhere else

The positive is that the beds are comfortable and it’s in an area convenient to shopping and dining. Other than that, there’s not much else positive to say. The staff seemed confused at check-in, hard to communicate with and not sure what rooms they had available for the type we had booked so put us in a handicapped room we didn’t need alleging it was all they had (not true). The shower and toilet area are so dark you can hardly see and considering that’s the only private place to change there’s nowhere to set anything down. The sink was clogging constantly. Didn’t seem clean, but at least the bed appeared to be. No one cleaned the room or even emptied the trash. Seems outdated and poorly maintained. One elevator kept breaking and would sound like it was as banging into the floor or would ding on and off all night. Just disappointed in the hotel in general and would not choose to stay there again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I would not return to this hotel. We approached the clerk to check in and as she is looking up my reservation the phone rang. We stood at the counter wearing masks as the line behind us grew for 10 minutes. She helped the person on the phone with their reservation questions making us wait. Then when that call ended she came back to us and the phone rang again. This time she made us wait another 10 minutes while she handled a guests complaint. Customers in line should come first . The phone can be put on hold. Then we get up to the room and find out the toilet doesn’t work. I had to take the lid off stick my hands in the toilet to pull the chain to flush the toilet. Yes during covid !! We contacted the desk to have it fixed. The engineer shows up and says it’s fixed. When we come back from diner it didn’t work so I had to to the same routine of flushing it manually again. The engineer came a second time. What a disaster. Then we find out from other team members staying in same hotel that their toilets broke too . This hotel needs some work both in customer check in and toilet repair !! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Pet Friendly-Staff not so much

My husband and I stayed here on our drive from North Carolina to Connecticut. He went to check in while I brought our dog inside from the car. He was given a room on the 5th floor and upon seeing our dog, the front desk lady rolls her eyes and goes “Oh, I didn’t know you had a dog with you. We always put guests with pets on a lower floor”. She did give us a free travel dog bowl, but she also gave us attitude about the dog. My husband did not think about telling her about our dog because Aloft does not charge pet fees. Overall, I felt the hotel was in a nice area and the room and bathroom were very nice and modern. However, the front desk lady was not the most pleasant person, so that is why I only would give this property 4 stars. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
